We had company last night, so I didn't get a chance to watch the games.

But, I did get properly poopfaced and periodically checked the scores.

How was the Knies fight? Did he land some quality shots or was it a dance?

I missed the Gordie Howe special. Knies redeemed himself on my fantasy roster after missing a game this week. I like this kid. He has a few sick dangles and uppercuts in his toolbox.

Matthews the bum still killed it this week despite missing a game. Guy absolutely dominated this week on the fantasy roster. I don't want to hear MVP chatter without this guy's name in the conversation.

Team Dumbass flightless birds rolled over and poop the bed in the face of overwhelming Canadian firepower. Dumbass for the GM of the year.

Static electricity Lightning blew a fuse against the lowly Flamers. Only thing more disappointing that this year's Bolts is Huberdough's contract. Ouch.

Path to the Cup runs through Leafs this year. Bank it. Leafs to the final four, bare minimum.

But Max Domi is 12th in the NHL in 5v5 assists, with 13 on the season.

To me that’s a sign that he’s probably a little undervalued. I hope he continues to find his roll as a Leaf.

For Willy i’d look for one of three things.


1) A legit 1D. Someone noticeably better than Rielly. Also someone younger. Because any trade they make they have to think about building a team that can compete for decades.

2) A power forward. They don’t need to put up as many points necessarily, but they must be a menace to play against, especially in front of the net.

3) A package deal. The future must be the focus here. Prospects, picks, players on their ELC’s. I’m starting to worry they’re going to mortgage the future and make bad decisions to try and win now. Minten and Cowan are a great start, but they have to keep building on that. If PIT had more Guentzel’s and fewer Karlsson’s, Croz and Geno would be in a position to win more cups, and not go out on a bad note.
