The Flyers need a #1 center prospect and they are hard to get outside of the top 5 of the draft. That is the only real concern. How do they get that player in his prime if they aren’t going to tank.

Needing a true #1 two way puck moving defenseman is not a real concern?

This is all conjecture on your part and everyone else's on here. You are just assuming that it will be the same ole same ole. There is no proof of that happening as of yet. Folks are jumping to conclusions that simply haven't happened yet. We know nothing yet in reality! Thanks!
- Phillywhiteout

Unfortunately, there is a significant amount of history to support this, and history is all we have to go on at the moment. Until i see the first shoe drop, I will be my outlook on this.

Then why is this team playing so well and the players seem to be happy? Like, where is this coming from? He has adjusted this year and is letting the defenders join the play at their discretion. They seem more aggressive all over the ice and are leading the league in shorthanded goals. People living in the past again?
- Phillywhiteout

Torts has always been like that as long as you actually still defend.

Explain to me how he is coaching an updated system that focuses on offense? Get back to us on that.
How many times have Frost, Brink and Zamula been scratched? Get back to us on that.

You want players to play even if they are playing bad or are hurting the team chances to win all in the name of Development. I am sure Torts isn't the only coach who sits players when they are playing bad.

But again he is a dinosaur correct and they have to go extinct at some point correct?

Petry and Ghost are much better signings than Hathaway.

Detroit also have a real 1D and a real 1C.

They traded away Filip Hronek just to sign these two…(Petry/ghost)

How do you expect a player to correct playing poorly? Practice only takes you so far.

It's possible to draft outside of the top 10 and get a #1 center also.

Explain to me how Frost, after the season he had last year, deserved to sit for how many games in a row, after the first two games of the season? I have news for you, that didn't happen because Frost was playing badly or was hurting the teams chances to win.

Yes, I want development of players placed over winning.

Practice and then game time. Players should also have to earn their playing time.

Zamula has missed 7 games,

Frost has missed 10 games,

Brink has missed 5 games,

Cry me a fn river

Is that for all players or just certain ones? When you post things like 'cry me a fn river" That's saying I don't have anything better to add.

Players earning their playing time. That's archaic.

Frost has 6 points in 17 games and has been okay at face offs. Not really helping the team.

So Torts doesn't like him, big deal. Maybe Torts sees more than a guy sitting at home does, I don't know. Is frost going to be a Flyer next year, probably not. Frost is not a great player, and as of right now he is an okay player.

It is possible but more rare. The Flyers will have to find the next Kopitar, Giroux, Aho, ROR or Bergeron.

Torts is a bad coach due to his ancient ways, resisting new ideas and technology to help the progress of the team, literally being a bully to his players, picking fights with skilled players ( he has done this everywhere he has coached). He is not a bad coach for trying to win.
He says one thing and does something else. He allows some players leeway on the ice, and others have a choke collar.
He is a bad coach for sitting skilled, talented players for thugs like ND to play when they don't have a place in todays game, and he has even stated that that type of player is getting pushed out of the game, yet he still plays that type of player.

He says he is trying to win, because the team deserves it, and then doesn't ice the team that gives him the best chance to do just that. That is not good coaching.
A good coach puts his players in the best position to succeed, grow and be the best they can be. Not hurt their growth, kill their confidence, and just flat out screw with them.
That is why he is a bad coach. Not because he tries to win.

I love drink your tears like a glass of champagne. There was no rebuild in Detroit. If there was they would have traded Larkin two years ago.

You didn't answer the question. Why did Frost deserve to sit out for what 6 or 7 games in a row after the first two games of he season?

Maybe Tortorella sees more than a guy sitting at home is such a lazy and ridiculous argument. Does that apply to every situation or just the ones that you don't like or agree with? Do you understand how that applies infallibility and immunity from criticism?

Is it reasonable to expect a young player to get jerked around and taken in and out of the lineup to instantly get back to where he was the season before? Frost's lack of point totals to this point of the season is on Tortorella. He did the same thing to Frost in 22/23, pigeon holing him on the 4th line. Hell if Cates was healthy, I bet Frost would've already been scratched again.

And? They got a 1st and a 2nd for Hronek.

The Flyers traded a 1st and two 2nds to acquire Risto. 37 points and -13 in 147 games playing as a #5

Again, you lack accuracy. I have never stated that they are winning too much. Also have never stated that Tortorella is a bad coach because he is trying to win. I have never criticized Tortorella for trying to win. I have criticized him for how he is trying to win.
- MJL

And how is Torts trying to win? He is playing the young kids; Foerster has played in every game, Zamula has played in 20 games and Brink 22 games. I don't think Frost should have been out of the lineup for 6 straight games, but even he has played 17 games and been in the lineup getting steady minutes now. So really there is nothing to complain about. Do you know Torts has played 10 defenseman already this year, in only 27 games? The bottom line Torts and his staff are doing a really nice job right now.
