Keeping Benson and Savoie doesn’t help this team turn into a contender ?

Wonder what the room would be saying if we did make that trade and Savoie started going off on Cooley’s wing for the next decade.

Two can play the hypothetical game

- Swedish_Jesus

doing nothing has not worked and doing nothing this last offseason was a mistake

at some point adams has to do more then luck into tage blossoming (thanks botts) and signing a few first overall picks to long term deals

the cap management has to be better and the bottom half of the roster has to be much better

If trading that draft pick helped the Sabres get into the playoffs this season, that room would say he’s a talented player, we’re focused on our room and chasing the cup.

Well maybe Quinn, JJ, Kulich, Rosen, Ostlund, Wahlberg maybe do it for the next decade.

if we make the playoffs, perhaps we can do better than erik johnson, eric comrie and connor clifton in free agents

what does yzerman have that adams did not have the last 3 years?

Yeah, and that's just a handful. Maybe not as High End as those 2 but Buffalo has a lot of Wingers in there System.

I’m not advocating for doing nothing.

Sean Durzi was had for a second rounder. Zadorov for less than that.

There were/are moves to be made that doesn’t necessarily involve moving Savoie or Benson.

That’s where Adams has completely failed.

Adams hasn’t figured out yet that he can field a playoff team this year while keeping the prospects that can help push you over the top

Granato says the PP needs more direct play, more decisive play, get shots quicker, "that could've been a difference maker".

Okposo: "I think we have an intent and it's very specific...those two games are as close to it as we have all year."

Granato on last two games: "We've absolutely played at a different level, more physicality, more aggressive, more scrums, better shot mentality...we need more aggressive traits, the process was better...but the result was frustrating."

Okposo: "It hurts not to get the win, but I think we can agree that the last two games looks a little different than the previous 25."

These are quotes from very unqualified people in positions they do not belong in.

I’m surprised Benson and/or Peterka haven’t been given a chance to run with the first group.

The personnel could use a facelift, the scheme could use a complete overhaul.

It’s a giant mess

I swear it's like they are told to make 4 passes before shooting on goal

Mitts
Tage-Benson-Peterka
Dahlin

Nobody respects Mitts’ shot on the off-wall opposite Tage, not even Mitts, as he is reluctant to shoot even when he has a lane. Putting him down low still allows you to take advantage of his play making skills on down low plays,

Peterka is equal opportunity shooter and passer.

Since the preseason I haven’t seen anybody play the bumper spot better than Benson.

Dahlin can QB with the best of them, and Tage can tee off.

That’s what I would do personally

I like the top set up, Mitts has no net front strength or skills, he wouldn’t fill the role properly down low. To be aggressive and hopefully wake up the demon in him, I would do this:

Power
Tage Benson Cozens
Dahlin

They need to cycle spots to open shooting and weak side lanes. Use their feet and skill to create openings, instead of the classic umbrella, passing around looking for a one timer.

They also need a new break out and zone entry as it’s a complete failure.

Edit: I’d try Peterka over Benson as well, but Benson has looked good in the bumper role.

So Savoie who didn’t do anything here and was sent back to juniors because he was very out of place was going to explode with a less talented roster?

That’s bold

Over the duration of his career ?

Expecting a 9th overall pick to be a good NHL player isn’t exactly bold

given it's the sabres, there is a decent chance the 9th overall guy is on our larry line within 3 years
