More than anything regarding the struggles was fatigue. Lots of travel, lots of games in a short amount of time is tough on any team. A few days off should do them some good. I wouldn’t be surprised if they shut the Caps out even. They’ve been so consistent all year so far, the last week was hopefully a blip. Testament to the team they picked up 4 of 6 pts in that stretch anyway. LA will be a tough game tho, they’re really good
Hopefully Cuylle KOs Wilson in a scrap |

I am thinking that the injury to Goodrow could be a fractured jaw. |

No disagreement on fatigue having an impact. Not sure I am willing to say all was due to that. But certainly a major factor |

Is it wrong to wish he had a season ending injury? if it is then I don’t wish it, but if it isn’t sure why not |

I was at the game where Prust hit him. Major cheap shot |

Yes, it is, on many different levels. |

Voice of reason I get it it’s just odd that a lost tooth causes someone to miss potential games. Usually they don’t miss a shift. Seems like he could have a more significant injury.
Injuries have hit us hard this year sheesh |

Try applying that to any other sport!!
There's losing teeth and then there's losing teeth!!

Could be broader then just a lost tooth after taking puck to the face/mouth. |

Biggest issue is they got away from their system locking down the neutral zone and defensive play. Need to lock it down now |

I think they got a little to over confident with how the first 2 months of the season has panned out and thought they some how woke up one night with speed and could run n' gun with teams.
Lav needs to wake these boys up and make them realize that they are a counter attacking trap team. |

I like Gustafsson and he's one of the best bargains Ive ever seen for the money he's getting, but, at the same time, I am not totally convinced a team gunning for a Stanley Cup should be relying on him 20 minutes a night
Lindgren has gotten hurt towards the end of the season the last two years in a row and was playing hampered in both post seasons, and with the way he plays, it would be foolish to think Lindgren can go all the way to June without getting banged up
I know you guys are all uppity every single day on improving the situation on RW but I'm more worried about LHD

How do we improve without taking on salary we probably dont have the cap space to handle? Id love to get Hanafin, but its just not a realistic move for us. Trading for him and being unable to resign him or resigning him at the expense of losing Lindgren would be a disaster.

Im definitely not talking about Hanifin
not talking about anyone in particular
Im just stating that I worry more about LHD than RW
there's plenty of forwards in Hartford than can help on RW when the time comes

MTL traded Romanov... I wonder if they could be coerced into trading Xhekaj. MTL does have quite the logjam at LHD. |

I'm talking about Lindgren inevitably getting banged up and Gustafsson playing that much
I'm just expressing my main concern
you guys go on and on every day about RW, just throwin this concern out there

So, to be clear, you want a bottom pairing LD who can play 20 minutes in the event of an injury to lindgren and you
A) don’t think Gus can do that, even though he has already and
B) think that need for a LD who can step up in the event of a future hypothetical injury is more important than filling a need (RW or C) that exists right now due to injuries that have already happened |

Xhekaj is a decent player.
However, he is their present day version of Dan Girardi. He is a tough, no-nonsense player that went undrafted and clawed his way into the NHL.
If a team came to the Rangers and made a standard offer of a mid level pick for a young Dan Girardi when he was in his early 20s and on a cheap contract ---- would the Rangers accept? Heck no! It would have to be an overpay in a trade, because of what Girardi meant to the Rangers.
Xhekaj means more to Montreal than he would most teams, so I don't think he would be a cheap acquisition in a trade. He is currently in the minors anyway, rehabbing an injury... |
