Tunnel vision. Some people jut see things the way they want and can't be told otherwise. Not worth debating.

Exactly. Stubborn & in denial if they ignore the eye test & metrics. Nothing to back up their view.

I really don't think Garland has been bad this year, I have never once said I did.

He is under performing relative to his contract though, no one can deny that. He was signed to that money to be a consistent middle 6 point producer and this season he hasn't contributed in that regard.

I just think his cap space could be better allocated given that he's currently playing essentially in a time-killing bottom 6 role. He's been pretty decent at it, but so has Lafferty for a fraction the cost, while putting up almost double the points.

I get you but again the contract is held over his head & scoring is arguably valid. He is one constant when the team was either flying or sinking. Kuz gets more heat with more points & featured top 6 & PP for his D etc from RT.

For 5 mil, I know which player I'd rather have. It'd be nice to be able to fully evaluate players outside of their contracts, but that is simply not possible in a salary cap world.

If Kuz worked as hard as Garland he’d be getting 7m+. He isn’t & will never get that making him a liability til he returns to his scoring ways. Big IF at this point in time.

If Garland can end up with 40pts given not top 6 mins or PP he’ll be close to value if not. 30pts then overpaid but not a liability.

Better money is spent on Garland who is both more versatile moving up the line up & good 5v5 where as Kuz moving out of the top 6 is a real problem.

Scorers who are paid to score & disappear are a big drag on the cap.

On Kuzmenko, you're making some big sweeping conclusions regarding a guy who has played 105 NHL games. He was fantastic last year and has had a slow start this year. Way too early to make a call on him.

Thanks Yorky. You forgot to mention that with his 11th assist last night Tyler Myers cracked the top 100 assist leaders in the league. He now has more assists than Bedard, Matthews and Ovechkin.

My bad. If you want to send me those running totals after each game I'll make sure to include them in the blogs

I could, but I don't want you to get lazy with your own research.

Seriously though, you're doing a fine job so far. Thanks for the time and effort.

He’s a scorer & not scoring. He has to buy into what is being coached. The scoring will come. He’s not a prospect & is getting paid to not have a sophomore slump.

Lastly on Kuz he’s very likeable & talented. Just bring his lunch bucket to work & all will be good. He knows what is needed from him 👍

He's Russian and has played in the KHL for years before signing in Vancouver. They play a different game in the KHL that's focused solely on scoring with very little hitting or going into corners. It's not his game to be a lunch bucket player and this has always been the problem with coaches like TG and RT who like to try and make players who don't fit into their pre-conceived boxes fit or else stick them in the doghouse until they cave or get traded/sign elsewhere.

Kuzmenko is getting the heat for EP not being an 11 mil player , big mistake if if they get anywhere near that ...9.5×8 or 10.75 for 3

I don't see Ep as the guy you go all in on , maybe a big trade the Rock's the NHL , Ala Joe Thornton way back , just hope we do better then Marco Sturm

No media brings this up , but the last time EP was contract eligible it ending up effecting his play , so maybe he choking under the pressure to be the next highest paid player that the pundits constantly talk up , and JT ...At 8 mil has clearly outplayed him so far

Petey is a star but he hasn’t the resume to get what some think he should get. 5/10m or 8/10.5m
