Goalie win!! Crevier and Vlasic out for a Dzone faceoff, goalie pulled with 1:23 on the clock....... LR threw the kids in the deep end of the pool and they handled it.

Holy crap Seth is overpaid ... 4 mins left in the 3rd- and that idiot just needs to hit a break out pass to get out of the zone ... what does he do?

Well he passes it to Bedard (I think), excepting the fact that despite Seth had time to actually not rush it - didn't bother to wait til Bedard actually was looking his way -with the obvious result of it missing him and going all the way down.

Now, I mean - look I only ever coached little kids in drills - but I sorta don't remember that being ever shown anyone.

I mean this is the twilight zone, right?

Also -thanks for the name issue I had earlier ...

-> I mean I just end up asking myself continually now - why exactly is this guy the highest paid player on the team? Why does he wear an A? What does he bring to the team?

You notice that crazy burst of speed coming back and covered for Crevier who took a bad angle then got his feet crossed and Terry was in alone until Vlasic caught him, called him for a hook. Dude has some real straightaway speed.

From the blueline he threw to the winger deep and drove the lane. Big kid is getting more confident with each passing game. ...... Love to see him away from Jones for 3-4 games to see if he's been holding anything back cuz he was skating hard all night paired with Crevier.

Missed calls and bad calls even out over the course of the season, who knew?

For vets but for rookies they really don't

That Woll injury looked very serious, until then he was spectacular (and lucky) in the game. Mrazek has value in trade. Many teams with goaltender issues.
- RickJ

If the Hawks trade Mrazek, I'd be shocked if they won more than 10 games the rest of the season.

I know when i asked about Crevier i heard AHL lifer and so on, there's no denying big guys who play defense and have decent feet can be a real pain in the ass to play against.

Thought the Hawks as a group had their legs moving for most of the game. Looked hungry enough. ........ Let's see if it carries over.

Add in Korchinski, Kaiser, Crevier looks ok and there’s still Del Mastro, Phillips and Allan. Building from the back end out.

The Hawks can’t generate offense so it will be very difficult to put wins together.

All yr long!! That's why it's really nice to get a big game outa Mrazak and this group gets one of the few wins they'll get this yr. ........... Ain't gonna be too many chances for wins this yr so you gotta get em when you can.

Agreed. IMO someone has to really knock KD's socks off cuz if he moves Mrazak this team is in real trouble. Especially this early in the season.

I’m convinced KFC is tanking again so moving Mrazek won’t shock me. In fact I expect he’ll move him at some point. Depending how long Woll is out moving Mrazak back to Toronto would be hilarious.

Kane with zero points, 16.33 TOI, 3 SOG.

Crazy game. DET scores four in a row in the 2nd, then the Sharks come back in the 2nd with 4 of their own. Wings eventually take a 5-4 lead. SJS scores late in the game to tie and wins in OT 6-5.

I listened to that 2nd period and it was nuts. I came away from listening to the Detroit radio feed with much respect for those two guys. Gave credit where credit was due to both sides without being homers. And no extra build up of the home team players as well. Matter of fact description of the game. Then I get home and turn on the Hawks telecast. What a difference. Vosters and Caley Chelios have their heads so far up the ass of management it's not funny.
Wideman and Murry on the Hawks radio cast do a good job as well.

Just got back from the UC. My notes from the 300-level:

- 1 SOG in the third period encapsulated just how poorly we played offensively
- So much standing around on offense. We really struggled with generating any kinds of scoring chances
- Mrazek was terrific but he probably looked better on TV than he did in-person. The Hawks were fantastic at limiting quality opportunities for the Ducks and Mrazek didn't cough up any rebounds
- Not sure what role Seth Jones serves moving forward. He's obviously locked up long-term, but he's not a top pairing defense-man and he's not a bottom-pairing one either. He's kinda just "there". Passes weren't crisp as he missed some outlet passes, didn't carry the puck out of the d-zone much, wasn't really vocal either from the looks of it either
- Korchinski and Jones have no chemistry whatsoever. That pairing needs to be split up yesterday
- Everyone looks to get Bedard the puck on the offensive end. Understandable, but scary to put that much on the plate of an 18 year old. BADLY need an influx of veteran offensive talent, can't just let kids ascend and hope
- Murphy... yikes.. Maybe it's LR's system, but he did not look this bad under Colliton. He's clearly a leader in the locker-room, but he's playing like a #5/#6 defense-man and is still under term for a couple more seasons. At least we need a cap floor to hit
- Crevier and Vlasic were fun together... let's see if that can stick. That has the potential to be an unreal shut-down pairing. It felt quiet when they were on the ice - a good thing
- Reichel needs to be sent back down to Rockford. I genuinely am unsure if he even touched the puck tonight. Box score says he had a SOG but think it was probably a tip off his stick

Daniels and Redman are about as close as you're going to get to Clement and Thorne in this day and age.

I want to know if Crevier speaks much English. Most of those kids from Quebec CIty are francophones thru and thru and you know his junior coach Patrick Roy not gonna speak much Anglais in the dressing room or on the bench except for swearing.
