He is the best rental available...I just don't want Tre to spend on him and not sign him.

Seems unlikely, but he is an option but he is someone I just do not see being a leaf.

Ferraro + Duclair 50 or 75% retained would be nice.

I'd include Robertson in that deal. Then you go hard for a Tanev at the TDL.

He may be a better D-man but he might not be as good a fit. He’s going to cost a lot more to acquire and was looking for $7M+ if we want to keep him. He’d play on 2bd pair with McCabe but wouldn’t be a primary PK or PP guy.

Tanev would be cheaper and would also be on 2nd pair. He’s cheaper and would be primary PK guy.

Didn't see it discussed on here but sounds like Keefe lost it a bit in the Leafs practice.......

As the article points out maybe he has been told by Tre he can take the kid gloves off and tell it like it is with this team. It's also possible he is just frustrated with the same mistakes over and over again and the players have just plain tuned him out.

Guess we will see.

Back to Leafs ... My worry with Hanifin is some teams are overating him. I'm not sure he's not just a guy who's slightly worse then Rielly at most things but is going to cost a fortune to acquire and then another 8 x 7.5$ to hang on to.

I'm not saying he isn't waaaaay better then the poop we currently have but I just wonder if there isn't a better result. His warts seem to be the same kind of warts we already have ..."isn't physical enough" ..."needs to be better in his own zone".

Tanev isn't nearly as good but he does do the things we seem to need more of ..especially in the playoffs. Push-back, defend, PK, block shots, will-to-win kind of poop.

Ideally we find the next Chris Pronger.
