Who the (frank) do you have to sell lol
- j.boyd919

The big piece you could sell is Jake if you can't get him to sign. Who knows what he wants to stay on a sinking ship?

They have a lot of players they could sell to a contender (Jarry, Ned, Pets, Eller, Smith, etc) but they'd all create holes that would need to be filled. So it'd be easy to get a lot younger, but very hard to improve on the short term.

Yohe on Madden...

Says Rust is out. Maybe long term. Yohe said something like.... He's trying to gut out the season, and take care of in the off-season.

There's not even a hint that Sullivan is in trouble.

Said the PP still can't score in practice.

I think we should all come together and blame Jeff Carter. For everything.

So would you be sellers this year and try to just build a younger team around the older core? Or do we keep being aggressive at building towards a playoff run?
- 123Kid

I think you have to see where you're at. I don't think I'd be trading Yager to improve this team unless they show a lot more. At the same time hard to be sellers if they're still in it.

I don't know that they can realistically build out a younger core at this point. They sort of made their bed already.

I agree... They have players people would want. If they go that route, you're doing it for picks and prospects to get the rebuild going.

You'd also have to ask the stars if they want out. I doubt a couple would want to be part of rebuild. I wouldn't blame them. You could eat salary on them to juice the return too.

If Rusty is out long term.....yikes.

They really need to get clarity on what is going to happen to Jake. If I were him, don't know if I'd want to spend the rest of my prime on a rebuild.

I don't know that the Pens can recover if he walks. Then again not sure they recover anyways. Have to at least consider it if there's no extension around the deadline, though it's hard to trade him unless they totally collapse.

Most teams are going to be up against the cap, and I doubt they are going to want to take on contracts with length. Jake is the only true piece you can sell and doing that would be a bonehead move.

Haha. Carter sucks, but he's nowhere near the top of the list of why they're mediocre at best. He's just a 3M player that doesn't impact the game.

I mean spending 3M on someone better would have helped, but not enough. Problems are much deeper.

The cap is going up a lot next year, and by the TDL there are always teams with players on LTIR that they need to replace. JR showed you can always make a trade if you really want to.

We're a long way from realistically considering selling though.

Screw it. At least until Rackell is back, give me Guentzel-Sid-Malkin for a few games. We're going to be a one line team anyways, might as well see if that sparks Malkin.

Nah, I haven’t had a beer league hat trick yet this season. Plus I release dopamine in my brain in other ways.

I'm seeing Eller at C, Carter at wing. Thought Z was fourth for a while, but it's been hard to keep track.

We have to be setting some kind of weird record for guys being healthy scratched one game, and on the top PP the next.

That's how we know they have no idea what to do without saying it.

I was amazed by the blocked shot disparity last night. Just looking at EK, he has 159 shot attempts this year all situations. 58 made it to the net, the rest were blocked (70) or missed (31).

I thought getting shots through was one of his strengths in the past?

I’m pretty sure Z didn’t play a shift on the 3rd last night. Why not try Harkins.

For starters put doc eller and Z back together so we will have at least one competent defensive line. Nylander, harkens and vinnie can go wherever. Don’t care. Doesn’t matter.

With Rust out, do you take a flyer on Foudy? He's on waivers today

I agree with that. Third line was playing well. Nylander stinks. If I'm choosing a player that might be able to elevate his game a out of that bunch, I'm taking VH. I don't know what he's done to earn the scratches over those other guys.

He’s a lefty and is on waivers for a reason but can’t hurt. It’s not like cbus is a beacon of offensive firepower to boost his numbers.

I'd agree with all points here. If anything Hinostroza is a less talented Rust that can do puck retrieval for the real top six guys.
