Lol at how quick people are to say bust around here. Particularly since he seems to be one of the two biggest surprises from those who follow prospects. On a much less competitive American team, Jake Guentzel never made it, but he turned out alright.

Real talk, Pickering hasn't had the offensive development they dreamed of. But that was always in doubt , or else a guy with his size and tools would be top ten. He's more likely going to be the guy that plays next to a star, not the star defenseman himself.

I dont follow the prospects as much as I used to, and certainly not as much as you, but was he ever expected to be much of an offense D guy? I thought from the very get go when drafted he was pegged as more of big physical stay at home type....maybe I'm thinking of someone else...

4.2 mill cap raise this off season...and BJC gone...about 7.3 mill in space. Jake's extention will probably eat up 2 to 3 of this. He is the only real UFA of consequence. So they will most likely have 4 to 5 mill in space and need a backup goalie.....maybe they have a tiny bit of depth scoring next season haha...

I’m hoping they resign Ned as backup. If he keeps his play up anyways.

For sure, if he keeps it up. Most likely will get a raise though, if so.

EDIT: maybe it was shortsighted of me to be saying Jake is the only UFA of consequence....if Ned keeps it up....

No you're right. Was said with his tools there was hope for his offensive game to grow but it didn't really happen.

A quick glance just showed me that he's 1st in D scoring on his WHL team and 32nd in D scoring out 191 in the whole league.

It also showed me I had no f'n idea he played 8 games for WBS last season haha...how did I sleep on that? haha don't recall it being mentioned around here.... 8 games and 0 points...

That interview with Dubas on the Pens site seems way too 'wait and see' for this point in the season? Almost like it was conducted a month ago.

Yeah he’s usually pretty up front with what he’s thinking so far this year. I was kind of disappointed by the interview.

Agreed. Sure he’s a nice guy and he’s a good coach who did a lot. But it’s time.

As crappy as some facets of the Pens play have been, they are 4 pts away from 2nd place in the Division. Right now it's the Rangers and a bunch of "also ran's" in the Metro. I think that's why there is no sign of panicking by the FO.

Yeah at this point I’m where I was with Rutherford with Sully. Great Penguin, but his shelf life is expired and has to be shown the door.

I don’t think making a coaching change would be a panic move regardless of the standings. We’re a third through the season and we’re not showing any signs of improvement. The fact we’re still in the race is fortunate. The time to make a coaching change is now while we still have a shot.

See if giving Malkin Rust and flipping DOC to his better side gets Malkin going.

The Pens would rather look for a pass than do anything that requires hard work or physical confrontation.

Shea must love his 000 stat line. He passed up at least 3 shots from a scoring area from what I saw.

Plus those two penalties won't sit well. Either Dubas or Sully said they hope to get POJ back in the line up next week after his rehab assignment. I think I know who is coming out.

Yeah a lot of passing up shots to try and walk it to front of net or making too many passes in the 1st.

Smith should of just tried to shoot instead of an attempted saucer to Sid that was like 3 feet off the ice haha
