Just overheard this at the MLB Winter Meetings from a rival executive:
“Pretty crazy Ross Atkins isn’t here. Also pretty crazy Shohei Ohtani isn’t either”
Wow.
Pretty weird for Atkins not to be at the winter meetings

Ross Atkins declined to say where he is right now, but the plan is for #BlueJays GM to be in Nashville before long for Winter Meetings. - Santo_44
Sooo....you're saying that Ross Atkins and Ohtani might be the same person?!? |

Since everything seems all basebally.... I think the premise of this blog is ruined by the fact that Zadorov is clearly a double at best.

And does anybody else have "Yesterday at ##:## PM" on their most definitely "Today" posts, or have I inadvertently time travelled into the future? |

should be able to ease the cap strain of the Leafs with Nylander taken a good chunk of that increase. |

Tampa gets revenge on Dallas for the 8-1 beatdown.
Vasi pitches a 4-0 shutout.
Ex-Leaf Glendening continues his heater (3g in 24g and 57.9% on faceoffs). He's on a torrid pace for a 10g season.
In all seriousness though, he's been a good depth add. - GalacticStone

Connor Ingram 11-3

He's a tough read. He has Jack Campbell vibes in his numbers. He's 26, has had moments of hot streaks - like last January & February - with a lot of mediocre to his game - like he was on the cusp of finding his game. He posted a pretty decent 21-22 in the AHL, and was once a top WHL goalie which led to him being on the World Junior team for Canada - but he wasn't particularly good against the best of his peers - at least at that time.
The challenge I have with giving credence to Ingram's game yet is that he has to do it with consistency for a year, year-over-year - not just for a month or two months.
The problem - at least for me - is that it's so rare for a goalie to find their consistent game at age 25+ after having been pretty mediocre against elevated competition. It feels like they've made an adjustment that took them 6 years to figure out - but the shooters will make an adjustment soon enough and how long until the goalie can readjust to it? I'm not going to pretend Tim Thomas didn't happen, but for every Tim Thomas there are a heck of a lot more Jack Campbells. |

There's also the "fit" with a team that's very hard to quantify.
Campbell worked with Toronto. Clearly
Bennington works with St-Louis (well sometimes)
Talbot somehow works with LA
Montembeault works with Montreal.
Not saying these guys are Vezina candidates, but they were/are playing well enough to not be considered a liability.
Would they all know the same success elsewhere? The smart ones try and stay where they know it works for them.
Even Tim Thomas, could have fallen off a cliff away from Boston imho. |
