Now we can have three reluctant shooters up top lol.

Honestly the set up on top won't make a huge difference if the down low players continue to rotate INTO coverage.

It seems to happen a lot. Crosby somehow ends up in dbl coverage in the high slot, or we have 2 players occupying the same place and they kind of cancel themselves out.

It's like they all forget how to play.

Their heads are completely shot when it comes to the PP. They have zero swagger, or confidence, on it and overthinking things as a result.

I cannot believe this team, in spite of all the power play failures, simply refuses to keep karlsson up top with Crosby on the right half wall. Fill in the other positions as you see fit. Wtf

Kind of hard to believe, but it absolutely looks that way. I thought they had a couple of decent looks in the flyers game, but missed the net.

I think I read the Pens have one PP goal since the sharks game on November 4th.

Just going say this again on a new thread... Tim Benz was on the radio the other day and he said the Pens are having trouble scoring on the PP at practice. Definitely a mental block at this point.

This is where I have an issue with the coaching. It is on the players to perform but right now they are lost. Force them to simplify.

Sid needs to stay on the goal line, behind the net, and to the sides of the net. Jake should be the one drifting high in the slot just like Point in those videos, if he bounces between net front and high slot, that's how you get the PKers to drift and open lanes.

Corey Perry will fix the power play.

Sorry. Just trying to drive up his price for the Oilers.

Karlson will end up on the right, Malkin will be on the left and Letang will be retrieving the puck down in the corner.

Agree with jboyd. Teams are giving players with the puck behind the net a few easy seconds because they know the puck is going to the point and there’s no threat. Sid behind the net can be lethal and it changes the dynamics of everything for the pp and the pkers.

Glad to see rakell skating again. He needs to right genos ship. Even if not scoring he’s a lot smarter of a player than doc. Hopefully it was an injury nagging him there whole time.

No arguments from me, it's where he is the most effective and commands the most attention. When he drifts to the high slot it's infuriating, he just eliminates himself completely

That’s a 1-3-1 PP set up in that video which you see probably 70% of teams use. No clue why the pens don’t. 1-3-1 PP set up is pretty much as simple as it gets and you can create about 9 options from a 1-3-1 set up with some skilled players. You can use 3 left shots with 2 right shots or opposite depending on which side of the ice you want to use. Someone send this video to Sullivan as minor hockey teams can even do these. This shows 5 of the options but pretty easy to see how 3-4 more options are very simple to create on top of these.

Yep, I gave half of these options last week lol

Technically they do run the 1-3-1 but they float and rotate so much that it breaks it and ruins all the options that are in that article.

This is the part that has me wondering if it’s the coaching or the players.

coaching. we don't need no stinkin coaching.

I'm starting to believe the philosophy on the PP is nothing more than - we have future HoF'ers, now go out there and get creative.

Didn't they only have 3 shots in the 1st last game?
