good to see Staal in the lineup after a rough game. Coach showing confidence that he can bounce back. Great sign of respect. - hello it's me 2050
I can not believe Brière likes Staal being preferred over a young D guy with a potential future. |

Please tell us how Patel bure is a better goal scorer than ovechkin - ClaudeFather
Maybe not... but he's certainly the best Indian hockey player ever. 😉 |

Zamula is a warm body. He should be playing over Staal but I wouldn’t be worried about ruining his potential future. |

In my opinion, you can't remove the longevity factor. Scoring goals not just a high level in a season, but doing it for 20 years. Ovechkin is scoring 40 and 50 goals a season at 36 and 37 years of age. - MJL The other thing that impresses me about Ovi is the fact that he has always played a physical game and somehow found a way to stay healthy. Bure was a dancer.

If he went out to just score goals, hed be tough to argue against, probably the best all around and complete player of all time - THE BLACK HAND
Datysuk? not a goal scorer, but great all around player. yes he can score, but could pass like a magician and play d. |

Finally real hockey talk.
Yeah, Ov is undeniably better than Bure. In fact Ov is likely the greatest Russian player ever.
I’d like to know who you have, Federov or Datsyuk? - roenick97
I watched way more Datsyuk, so I’d probably have to go with him. Fedorov had a longer career and his prime was a little before
My time. |

I believe Datsyuk is likely the better choice for a few reasons. Fedorov really slowed down after he left Detroit. Nobody was better than Datsyuk when it came to pickpocketing players with the puck. Also Datsyuk pretty much owned the Selke in his time. You might even argue Datsyuk held back to fit a team system. If Datsyuk was an all out offensive player, he could have put up way more points. I think a lot of points were left on the table. Fedorov just looked old once he left Detroit. |

There are things I miss about the game pre 2004-2005 lockout but overall we’re pretty lucky. I think Ov has a chance to be the greatest goal scorer in NHL history and likely greatest Russian player ever. I also believe Auston Matthews could also threaten to break the goal scoring record and possibly become the greatest American hockey player ever. It’s a great era to be a hockey fan.
I know not many in here agree with Torts’ comments about hitting. Personally do. The Hughes/Hathaway play though, that’s more about safety than what once was. |

its a remarkable parameter and probably his best attribute other than his unworldly one-timer because the only thing that stopped Bure was his knee injury. Its impossible to compare Eras. Bure played during the Clutch and Grab neutral zone trap and was restricted by the center ice line. Bure could score in every facet, speed, deke and shot. He created most of his own offense and didnt need to be set up. My statement is based on pure overall goal scoring ability and peak prowess.
Ovi has played in a much freer and PP friendly league. Also benefited from more 4 v 4 play and 3v3 OT play....interestingly, he has over 50 empty net goals |

The clutch and grab era lol bures best season in 93-94, 20 guys with 90+ points, real restriction on scoring . A goals a goal and ovi is the best to do it |
