Where on earth do you see me defending chuck in any way. Cant wait to read the response on this one. - hello it's me 2050
You've never been able to admit that Chuck waiving NAK was a bad move, even though the Flyers haven't had a good, cheap 4th liner since he went to Colorado. Perhaps Poehling can become that if they actually leave him there instead of pretending he's top 9 material. This season they are paying Hathaway almost $2.4m to contribute almost nothing.

C'mon, you call that hit on Hughes almost nothing?

it ranks around #100 on his list of bad moves chuck made. Has no significance at the end of the day.
When he was waived he had fallen down the depth chart. So no it wasn't a bad move. He needed a change got it and went on solid run. Been wiaved let go how man times since? Why did those teams let him go? You assume he would still be a staple in the flyers lineup. |

Wow do the Penguins stink. They are completely cooked and I just have to laugh at ownership.
Believe it or not it seems most Pens fans agree with ownership. I talked to a few Pens fans in the wild a few weeks ago and I asked them if they’d rather die a slow death with no legit shot while keeping Crosby/Malkin or trade them to spur a rebuild, and they wanted to see them finish their careers as Penguins!
Sad to see.
- StepfordSam
I was looking at some posts under the Penguins hockeybuzz and there was a lot of anger directed to the coaching, especially around the lack of a PP. Calls for Sullivan or one of his assistants to be fired of course. I actually thought the Penguins PP was dangerous the other night, but Ersson made some nice saves and the Flyers did a nice job getting sticks on pucks and blocking shots. |

It was. But it is also well documented that he wanted to part ways with Malkin and Letang and start a rebuild. Fenway sports over ruled him and told him to sign both.
No excuse for the Carter deal. - MBFlyerfan

Tyson Foerster must read hockeybuzz. “Oh my stretch pass through the middle of the ice isn’t a big deal?”
In all seriousness, if I was coaching there is no way Foerster would have made the team out of camp. Foerster being sent down means Frost and Brink sees every game. With this said, Foerster has been doing all the small things right and now the offense is coming together. Hopefully he can keep the offense coming. - roenick97
So perhaps this coaching staff is pretty good, eh? |

Well then this is a very odd decision, even for Torts.
The average age of the Flyers starting defense is 29 years 4 months old.
Staal --36 years 10 months
Seeler - 30 years 5 months
Walker - 29 years
Risto - 29 years 1 month
Sanheim - 27 years 8 months
York - 22 years 11 months - Feanor
Zamula will get his games this year. Perhaps Trots just doesn't like the match ups with Zamula in there? I admit I was surprised Staal was not sitting out this game given how poorly he looked the other night. As far as the Flyers defense, this is how it looks today. I believe it will look very different next season. |

He's a rookie defenseman, playing on the 3rd pairing. What matchups would favor him? Why didn't they make it look different this year? What was the need that made them sign a 38 year old washed up player with no future?
I hope it looks different next year also. Hopefully Staal and Ristolainen are gone. Doubtful on the latter though. |

I hope he doesn’t get it. I don’t hate ov but I’d prefer a Canadian keep it over a Russian. I also don’t want to have to watch that maniac Putin give him the order of Lenin in some big ceremony in Moscow. |

Torts explained this in today's presser, but I know you don't care about anything he says. However I do and I think his explanation made sense. Zamula is still learning, learning how to keep his legs moving so he is not stuck and learning how to handle late game situations. There was a play in the 3rd period I think where Risto took the puck from behind his own net and skated the puck out of the zone cleanly and effectively. This is something that Zamula needs to learn to do. With Staal, though he had a rough game he has the experience especially late in games, and again Zamula can learn from Staal in these situations. Staal will be gone either at the deadline or after the season. As for Risto, it really depends. Right now he is earning every penny of his contract so he might be here for a while, which I am fine with as long as he keeps playing like he is.
Another interesting nugget from Torts today is he wants to start reducing minutes from Sanheim which I predicted they would do given he is looking gassed at the ends of these games. He will not be playing the PP and Risto will be used more on the PK. |

I think barring some catastophe, he DOES break it. He is 67 goals behind and has two more seasons on his contract after this. No way he gets it this year. But next season it is almost a foregone conclusion. Again, if nothing crazy happens first.

As great as Ovechkin is at scoring, averaging 45 goals per season over his career, Mike Bossy average 57 goals per season in the 10 years he played. Amazing when you think about it, but I think it's harder to score now given the size and equipment of the goalies than it was even in the 80s. So there is a clear case that Ovechkin is the greatest goal scorer in NHL history even if he doesn't break the record, which I agree he probably will. |

So we are going to play the lesser player because we might be holding a lead at the end? Let’s forget the first 55 minutes of the game. This has to be one of the dumbest things I’ve ever read 😂 |

Well, firstly Walker according to reports is garnering a lot of interest so it would make sense for the Flyers to trade him by the deadline and gain some good assets. The Flyers can always try to resign Walker in the off season, though there is a good chance some team will throw a boatload of money at him which means he will sign elsewhere. Staal will be gone either at the deadline or in the off season. So that is two spots that will be open for Zamula or maybe two other young defenseman. |

Add to that he isnt going to have Staal out there either for the most part. So it makes even less sense.

Zamula is 100% a better player than staal, Marc staal cannot play. Did you watch that penguins game? |
