Giroux still has gas in his tank. I keep cheering for him wven though he's gone.
Do you rhino he hates this franchise now or does he just hate feltcher, like the rest of us do?

- Bob Habib

he does indeed. Never a question about his talent.

Fletcher did the right thing in this instance imo.

I think Giroux loves the Flyers franchise. It was his home. It was just about wanting to win and play in his home town.
- MJL

I hope so. This franchise didn't really do much around him to help him raise a Stanley cup and then the feltch basically said that he was done with Roo. Then there is the unwarranted hate of him among certain members of the fan base. I just wonder if he looks back on it all and regrets staying here for so long.
I'd hope he doesn't, but as I get older I look back and wish I had made certain moves lomg ago to produce a different outcome.
Just spitballing... I always was and always will be a fan of his. I wish this franchise had done more to help him raise a cup, though

Agreed. And the return was solid considering that Roo would only go to Florida.
Trading an old ginger for a younger one is the flyers way! Plus I hope that that 1st ends up being a solid pick

if it was about wanting to win he would have went elsewhere. Winning is secondary
- hello it's me 2050

Im not sure I agree with this. The moves they made at the time he signed showed they were at least trying to win IMO.

If he truly wanted to win there were better options out there for him to pursue. Cant imagine any legit contender not wanting to have him on their team.

Moves they made where not going to make them contenders to me.

I guess. I feel like he had legitimate concerns as far as family to consider. That stuff matters to most people.

I honestly dont think he would have signed in Ottawa if he thought they would stink. Agree to disagree on that.

It was an obvious combination. An area he wanted to take his family to and a team that had a chance to win. That added up to Ottawa. An up and coming team with some really good young players that he could add to.

he wanted to play in ottawa was the main driver imo. plus not sure any other team would have given him that contract either.

Well lets say they are out of it come the deadline. You think he will want to be moved to a contender?

Well when he traded him away and basically let him know that he wasn't a part of the future. I highly doubt there is an exact quote that says that but actions do speak 🤷

I do not think he requests a trade this year. He is signed for next year. If Ottawa is obviously not going to make the playoffs next year I could see him requesting a trade. If Ottawa is a relative lock for the playoffs I do not see him leaving.

not sure what interview (it was years ago, Bill may remember), but he was asked before about an extension for the flyers and balked. stating family and his son getting ready to start grade school was a big consideration.

Of course not. You think winning should be his only concern and he has the rest of his life to think about. Young children and a family.

That doesnt mean he doesnt want to win. It just means there is more to his life. I agree with him. We get it, you hate the guy and will rip him no matter what he does.

first off do not hate him in anyway. So push that false narrative elsewhere. Not ripping him at all. Again push that poop elsewhere.

Never said it should be his only concern. It is pretty clear to non biased fans winning is down his list of priorities.

He's not the hands down winner this season?
- MJL

I still think he was the best coach last season and I think he is already the best coach in the league this season! Just my opinion though ...

,

I’d say zero. He’ll be 68 and all coaches have a shelf life.

It was a mutual parting. He was what 33? It made sense for both sides to move on. I don't think there was any animosity there at all.

You're on an extremely small micro island in both cases. More like a pebble in the middle of the ocean.

If there was a vote today, who would win the Jack Adams?

I agree it was mutual. I think Giroux really did want to stay but realized his time was done here. After all he did agree to be traded to the Panthers. He did not have to agree to any trade.

who cares that award means very little to me.

Why doesn't your hero hold the PP accountable in your opinion?

- hello it's me 2050

That's a black mark for sure. But to be honest, a lot of this is on the players. I talked to a couple of coaches about this and told me a lot of the PP is based on the creativity and decision making of the players. I believe the Flyers have good enough forwards that should be able to at least be a middle of the pack PP in the NHL, so the coaching has to take some of the blame here. I still think bringing in a consultant to augment the coaching staff might be the best option at this point.

Thank you - I was not sure if it was a skating issue or not

Not all. Barkey is a very fast skater.
