To be a contender now? A top 4 RHD + signing Bear for depth + another top 6 winger, DiGiuseppe won't last forever with Miller
- NorthNuck

It hasn't been as good as of late compared to the start of the season. I'm pretty sure that line was 9-1 in 5v5 GFvsGA and now they are 9-9.

There was quite a bit of line juggling going on last night. As of right now I don't have my eye on a Barbashev, Lekhonen, Hegel type of forward that Van could acquire. One may come up as the season progresses though.

PDG does have one of the best dollar per points though. So does most of the Canucks cheaper bottom 6, just not Garland and Beauviller.

Prefer a righty but open to a lefty but depending on who.

Soucy will be back before the end of the season, I wouldn't mind testing out a bunch of the AHL kids to see if any can take the reins.

PDG has been a pleasant surprise, but I just don't trust that combo to keep clicking, as you said it's already on the downswing. Nice to know he can slot in for injuries, but they need someone more proven in that spot. I'd be looking for the same type of puck retrieving player though, Miller and Boeser need someone who can anticipate and use speed to get them the puck.

Wolanin although not a kid anymore. Does Woo deserve a look sooner or later? Is on pace to have his best season ever by far.

Maybe in coming games we will see some other lines that last longer than a shift or two.

In Canucks news this morning

This was the season Rutherford always wanted to go for the Cup. Rutherford sat the entire department down and said 2023-2024 is the season we're going for.

Canucks told Horvat he was going to be one of the players they build around. He only found out they basically went back on their word when they told him they extended Miller.

Elliotte on Pettersson: If he signs a 3 year deal, he will be eligible for an extension before he turns 29. I'm not saying it's going to be a 3 year deal but I think it's possible Pettersson goes for that area of return instead of 8.

That could be Mikheyev. Hoglander in the future.

I’d stick with prospects seasoning more on the farm & call up older players like Wolanin. Later in the season the kids if needed or earned.

Just saw a video on IG that back in the day there used to be only one penalty box for both teams to share. Then on Oct 30th 1963, after getting in a fight on the ice, these two guys just starting throwing haymakers in the box. 10 days later they had separate penalty boxes

He's been more or less the starter last couple of weeks. Starts last 3 of 5... Demko went 1 game in 8 days in that stretch when DeSmith got 2 of 3 on the road.

Friday fun with numbers: per Natural Stat Trick,

Sam Lafferty has as many 5-on-5 goals this season as Elias Pettersson and JT Miller *combined*
Lafferty 3
EP40 2
Miller 1
Ilya Mikheyev leads #Canucks with 6

Makes sense we would be sluggish yesterday IMO. Got back home after a road trip, play 1 game at home and immediately fly out to CGY for a back to back. That said, on goals 2 and 3, I noticed EP's stick tips it in and he is VERY lazy with that stick. Like unbelievably lazy with it.

The new line combos sure through the guys off + being tired. Thinking something like this:

mik - EP - hog
boeser - miller - Joshua (he's been making some nice plays)
garland - laff - believue
PDG - blueger - karlsonn (maybe move him up with miller and see)
