Question- Phantoms were short handed on defense this week because of injury to Andrae and sudden illness to Attard. Flyers had recalled Belpedio AND Mete only needing one. Mete sat out for the NHL club and couldn't be of use to the AHL club.
What am I missing?
I'd like to see Peterson against his old club tomorrow night. Not expecting anything great but would like to see where he's at. We're stuck with this dude. |

I do not think the Sabres are good to enough to say they are a 100% lock to win this game. Flyers outplayed them last game. So it's seems they were already taking the Flyers lightly.
Either way I will watch if it is convenient tonight. - mickel25
I’m sure they got an earful after that last performance, they are home tonight too, I’m expecting a better effort from them. Whoever is in net let’s a couple stinkers in and it could get ugly |

edge.nhl.com has all the stats. Faster skater, hardest shot. Gudas was recorded at 101.69 and Sanheim at 101.49. Tippet is up near top for shot and for skating speed. |

I think I heard it on Spittin' Chiclets. They said Sanheim at 102. 101.49 rounded up is 101.5. Rounded up that is 102. The boys are never wrong:-)
I think Gudas just got his on 11/1. Sanheim was back two weeks ago, maybe...
It's amazing to see some of those stats they track. Total miles covered. Number 22+MPH bursts. |

Is this franchise in the midst of another 10+ game losing streak? It’s becoming a staple. What a farce.
Let’s play where’s Waldo with Ristolainen. |

FWIW... Aside from the game result, and ignoring the Hart injury playing a part in it... I'd like to point out that the goal challenges such as the two over the last couple games, based on offside situations, in the grand scheme of team play only go to cosmetically mask and distort the actual final result... when we are measuring the way teams are playing.
A goal scored during a missed stoppage is for all intents and purposes (with a very few exceptions) a goal allowed... no matter how it is finally counted or not counted on the official game books. While the overturn is a good accomplishment for the coaching staff, it is basically a mulligan for the team that may or may not change a no point situation to a point(s) one.
I'm sure... or at least assume and hope... that overturned goals are only ignored on the books and celebrated by the fans and teams looking at the end result... but taken into account post-game by the coaches.
While I certainly want the play to be 100% accurate and fair, a major part of me kinda wants to go back to the days when bang-bang play calls were allowed to stand without question away from the fans and pundants -- excluding of course the horrendous blatant Leon Stickle 1980 SCF missed call that just HAD to have been called -- Things have a way of evening out is the grand scheme, and teams win some and teams lose some.
With the technology we now have, offsides such as the last two overturns are clear and obvious nowadays... but, if they were allowed to be counted, they would theoretically even out wover extended samples... and TBH portray the actual state of team play... and please keep in mind that neither of the last two games were won with the two won coach's challenges.
I imagine it is merely old-school boomer thinking to want to return to the old official's eye calling of games... and accepting blown calls (again exclusive of Stikle-esque one)... but TBH, that's were I stand... with full knowledge that that will never happen.

Here we go with Coots. Today day to day...tomorrow LTIR. That contract is gonna age awfully. Just so dumb to give that length of contract to a guy that age with all the miles he has on his skates. The nagging injuries were already becoming a staple and now it's getting worse. If Hart is out for a long time, and Coots and Atkinson can't stay healthy this team will finish last in the east and may even challenge San Jose for last overall. I just looked at the lineup and saw Laughts listed as the first line center. Very well may not be able to watch the game tonight having seen that. No thanks! |

I agree, it should not be for bang-bang plays where they have to look at multiple angles with a slide rule to get it right. I don't know how you separate that from the blatant bad calls though.

//StreamOfConsciousnessPost - ForeverFlyer16 I tend to agree here. I mean, if it's a millimeter offsides let it stand. It gets ridiculous. I'm all for getting it right, but going over it with a fine tooth comb is a bit much. Leon Stickle should have been fired on the spot. That play was offsides by 3 feet and it was game 6 of the Finals. That mistake simply cannot be made at that time. Today there would have been an investigation to see if he had bet on the game. |

Sadly, I don't imagine there is a way... maybe only with an eye in the sky czar that is in place for major blown calls, one way or the other... but then they have to define what major is, which is still alot better than the current coach challenge situation across all sports these days... which is a great overreaction to the way it was, now that they have the technology. "Let 'em play!" 🤔 |

Game 6 that had the Flyers, who were ahead late in the game, won would have forced the Isles to have to win another game at the Spectrum where the Flyers were so tough to beat... The Isles already caught a break in their win there by a rare OT PP call that IIRC sat Jimmy Watson in the sin bin. I was at that OT Loss; tough one to lose... Flyers win game 6 and they most likely win Cup #3. 😪

Sharks 🦈 will be tough to catch. Couts monster contract had many up in the air on here. Only a couple of the usual suspects defended it. |

A lot of people assume that new gear will improve what players did in the past, remember their technique is based on the equipment they used. Sure, some would adjust and improve, but many others would probably get worse.
Not sure if you play hockey, but if you do knowing something as simple as new gloves can take a period of time to adjust to.
