We got lucky with Woll's first poor performance here - Korpisalo still looked shaky, but for a change we drew the right straw and had the more stable net. It really has not been the coach, the forwards, or defense; it is the net. Our goalies *need* to play 910 for this team to be successful. Of goalies who have played more than 4 games, Korpisalo comes in 31st place in sv%. Forsberg is 50/53, followed only by Stuart Skinner, Ilya Samsonov, and Samuel Ersson. Forsberg is behind Jack Campbell for crying out loud. We have heard *tons* about the net woes in Edmonton and Toronto - we need to shine the light on this here. Ottawa is right there with the dregs when it comes to netminders. For the record (any # of games played) there are 30 minders who have a 910 or better in the NHL, so it's not like they are unicorns. Sogaard is rocking a 932 in the A on a middling Belleville squad. Waive Forsberg and bring him up stat.

The affair last night was near a must win as one could get. Brady and Claude spoke out against the frustrated fans so a loss would have only added more fuel to the fire. Claude Giroux took his game to a level that not many can. While the Senators certainly benefited from poor goaltending and lackluster defense, a win is a win. I have always been high on Claude Giroux but last night’s game added another notch. He’s basically a coach on skates. It’s incredible to watch.

Spatso, if players commit to playing for each other and shutting out outside noise. That tends to lead to better and more cohesive team play. Which can lead to more wins. Which in effect, benefits the fans.

I agree. You want the players going all out for each other.

My concern is comes when they feel spited by the fans. So, they disengage from the community.

Hockey players don't do that. They are always involved in the community. Circling the wagons against the negativity coming from the media is not the same thing.

At this point, I'd settle for a goalie who just makes the saves they should. Bad goals, scored at the near end of a period, as so deflating.

Like any goals with a .918 save pct. Not a world beater, just not someone who can't trust

This is the bounciest puck I've ever seen. This is a frustrating game to watch.

OTTs defensive system, let the other team shoot, hope they don't score, hope they can get the puck and move out, your not going to win many games playing a system like that

Holy guacamole... Another goal. Another game we should be winning. If Forsberg keeps this up, he's gonna get bought out in the offseason.

This performance will make Anton Forsberg 54/55 in SV% out of goalies who have played 4 or more games this season. All this while benefiting from an average of less than 20 shots against per game. When do you pull the cord?

This loss is largely on Forsberg. The Senators limited one of the better NHL teams (and highest scoring team) to 15 shots. While the defense did make some errors, we have to expect Forsberg to make some saves. His confidence seems shot this year. I would say to bring up Sogaard and give him some starts with Korpisalo also getting some starts. Forsberg rides the pine. If Sogaard works out, then send Forsberg to Belleville . He would have to clear waivers first. That is why I want to see Sogaard play some games ..... because some team may claim Forsberg off waivers. I don't think a team would, but you never know.

He's got another year at 2.75 and absolutely miserable numbers. You'd be jumping for joy if somebody claimed him.

I proposed trading him to Edmonton yesterday. Nice job Staios. Show off his consistent talents with a game like last night. Can't give him away now.

Batherson needs a night off.

Nurse and campbell suck, drai is going to want like 15mill+ on his next contract, no thanks

So contracts aside, you think Nurse is worse than Chabot?

I'm surprised he's only at 21:58 this season. I haven't seen him enough this season to determine his defensive play but I he does play a lot on the PK. Surprisingly Ceci leads the team in SH TOI (by 2 seconds )

Hard pass. Leon will want 11+ on his next deal, and he's under contract for only one more year, compared to a younger Norris who likely has more to show. Having 9M invested in two of the worst statistical netminders in the league for 4 years is bad business. Nurse is basically the same player as Chabot, except more expensive and on a longer term contract. It would be cool to have Ottawa be the 'German' team in the NHL though. To think we could've had Peterka instead of Jarventie in Stu's draft year, two stalwarts for the German national team likely for the next two decades... Big time obvious fail by Dorion there, shades of White/Konecny.

I'd do Chabot, Pinto and Forsberg for leon. Maybe a conditional draft pick added if he signs with sens
