Here is an observation a friend of mine has.
We need sharpshooters not target shooters He said we are good at hitting the target (Goalies chest logos, goalies glove) Sharpshooters do not hit the targets they hit the net. We have target shooters and make the goalies on the other teams look like Hall of famers How many goalies just have their glove in a certain spot and our shooters just play catch with the goalies glove They do not even have to move the glove I swear our guys aim for the glove not the net |

The tough thing about that loss was that the team generally speaking did play better than the previous few games.
Most of the losses this season can be put down to either bad puck possession/control (the defense fumbling around with the puck and the offense not maintaining possession long enough) or a handful of critical mistakes. For example, last night trying to pass back to the point just as the 5 on 3 was ending. They know that a guy is coming onto the ice and is behind the points for a time, and that if the puck gets past the points he has a breakaway. That is a situation where you have to get the puck deep and outwork them for it. It is way too risky going back to the point in that situation.
Jarry hasn't been great but if so many critical mistakes were not made in front of him I think he has been good enough for them to win in most games.
Regarding the PP, one of the issues I think is that no one seems willing to go near the net a lot. Jake used to but I guess after his injury/surgery is hesitant to do so. |

I still don’t think it was goalie interference … I’ve seen more contact in my aunt Mary’s flag football games.. and she’s a nun… - dozerD10

I think the lack of net front is definitely the reason we need a change in the top 6. It is one reason I am not opposed to shopping Guentzel. I feel like he isn't the same player he was a few years back (before the injuries). Maybe we can land a net front player or a different talent to elevate this team. Maybe someone like Sean Monahan, Josh Anderson, or Evander Kane is what this team should look in to. |

Pens didnt suck last night. The skaters mostly played a very good game. The PP couldnt finish enough and Jarry couldn't give them a big save. - MattStrat
Did the penguins win that game or did I miss something? Pittsburgh fans LOVE mediocrity, It's the last resort they got to hold on to something. It seems they're missing any kind of physical play, a goalie and the top money making players to score. Am I wrong? Maybe dubas should get players HE thinks the team needs and not what sullivan wants to use? Like Ruh, carter, nieto, jarry..eller..I'll even throw EK in there....etc.
Ruh was dreadful last season, carter is cooked, nieto.. Really?, Jarry is unpredictable, Eller is a poor mans beau bennett oft injured and can't score (oh but he plays defensively) Whoopi, Softest euro team in the league. It's like they get knocked around with ease and god forbid they fight? Oh and I like petterson and alot of respect to him but when he's your enforcer? That's all I got to say.

Does EK have a no trade clause? Think I’d rather trade him than Guentzel. |

I see o'le Glassy Zucker is back on the IR. That was my main concern with resigning him for this coming season. Felt last season was a fluke for him health-wise. |

Evander Kane is terrible. Monohan is like a 2nd liner. Josh Anderson I wanted in the off-season but not at the expense of Guentzel. |

How does it seem I'm crying? hahaha
I think the only things you got right in that cry rant post were "Carter is cooked" and "Jarry is unpredictable"
If you spent any amount of time around here you'd know I'm not delusional about this team, not before the season started and certainly not now. Myself and others around here had a lot of questions about how this would play out and not one person around here thought they were a true contender this coming season. A lot of people thought playoffs for sure though, I still had my doubts.
Crazy thing is I said multiple times in the summer, with a 50% roster turnover, it was a lot of new pieces to hit the ground running. Despite this they're actually playing better than I thought they would to start the season.
I know that people like yourself are incapable of looking at nuances or having any kind of critical thinking regarding hockey. Its either win they played good, lose played bad. So, there's no need of entertaining your posts anymore. Its a fruitless endeavor. |

In what world is Eller considered a poor mans Beau Bennett lol, you lose any smidge of credibility with that sentence. That sentence turned this entire post into mush.

Right, if you're trading Guentzel for a more physical top 6 forward, that's fine, but he better be scoring 30 goals. |

Finding a net front presence would be great but not at the expense of arguably our best shooter. More things can be tried within the current roster before anything drastic needs to done.
Someone mentioned Big Z on the Powerplay. Pretty good hands, big body and can still chase down the puck. Worth a try. |

Best shooter and one of the most consistent LWs in the NHL over the last like 5 years. Dude's a top 10 LW, you don't trade those.

Funny thing is if Jarry isnt "unpredictable" like I think he got right, and has over a .900 SV% every game, which shouldn't be asking too much of a starter who just got paid and term, then the Pens have won more and he's not in here ranting all the rest of the sh!t he's saying hahah...because they would be winning more. |

I'm with ya, and in my comment above I wasn't advocating trading Guentzel. |
