it also leaves out the playoffs
Graves was great for Rangers in playoffs, and Kreider has the all time franchise lead in playoff goals
it just really shows that there is no reason that the fanbase shouldn't show as much love to Kreider as it does Graves
the last two seasons for Kreider, as well as his start this year, should absolutely shut any detractors up, and it still hasn't, and its crazy - jimbro83
A cup is the difference.

I take Kreider over Graves in most situations actually. Graves took a poop ton of penalties going off the numbers. Kreider is a lot more responsible there. Look at his +/- too. - JRR1285
Also while Graves was great and beloved, as he should be. Kreider is quite literally the best at doing something in the league.

That's not the fault of Chris Kreider. Kreider has scored playoff games. Some memorable/important. If Rick Nash does anything in 2014 Chris Kreider could have championship. |

there's a lot of Rangers in their history that get a lot of love who didn't win the Cup
I'm a long time fan who spanned many many eras
nobody ever called Vic Hadfield, jean ratelle or Brad Park "invisible"
there's this weird thing a part of this fanbase has against kreider

I think it (unfairly in some cases) puts some of the Rangers from that team up on a pedestal.
Richter is maybe the third best goalie to ever be on the team, yet he is regarded by some to be the best. 1994 was a magical year for him, and he accomplished some great things on the international stage too. But if we're being objective Richter is definitely a tier below Lundqvist and eventually Shestyorkin. |

They remember a specific instance and hold onto it. Kreider needs to win a cup or he will be regarded this way forever because we have moronic fans.

He has his detractors too, but those are the worst of the worst. I remember reading on social media that they would never win anything with Hank in net being paid "too much". Where the (frank) would they be most years without him? |

maybe try this on? CK spent a good part of his career falling short of his lofty expectations. Now he is living up to them and attitudes just havent caught up yet.

What expectations? He came in with a bang in the post season and people were upset that he didn't get even better right away?
He was the 19th overall pick. How he panned out is pretty damn good if you ask me. |

I never once had expectations that Chris Kreider would be a 50 goals scorer or become the leader of the franchise in playoff goals though

Game 5 OT - If Quick doesn't stop Nash's top-corner shot with the shaft of his stick, the series goes 3-2 and back to the Garden. |

4th in his class for goals. Yeah, I'd say getting top 5 goal scorer from a draft class is a win. |

That's my point. If they get anything from Nash against philly or pittsburgh, they might end those series earlier and have gas left in the tank vs the kings. |

Edit: NVM I misread your post.
Anyone who expected more from Kreider during his first seasons was being unreasonable.
You can't even compare Graves and Kreider directly. One was traded here and the other is home grown. Graves had some pretty poor seasons before arriving with the Rangers. Looks like it turned his career around. |

Maybe it was his playoff performance in his rookie debut that set the lofty expectations? Or maybe its the gay rumors that has followed him, not that there is anything wrong with that (being gay)

I have a Krieder jersey - but they lose every time I wear it, so it never comes out of the closet (PI)
