Researched the hell out of it prior to doing it. I’ve done vinyl before but went with hardie plank, PVC trim all around, black Anderson 400 series windows. Pretty straight forward once you learn all the little tricks for the hardie plank. I’ve done windows a ton before so that wasn’t bad. Still have some more to do but slowing down for the winter and I’ll finish it up in the spring.

They’re great, wife wanted the black windows with the black grill inserts to go with the siding (went with artic white). Wait until Home Depot has a 15% off sale on Andersson and then sign up for a pro card and they’ll put it in the bid room. Saves you another 8-10% so you get about 23-25% off total.

Did the early version of Hardie (don't know that it's changed) with my dad on their house in the early 90's, really nice stuff. Want to do my house someday.

Bathrooms are easy. With all the new systems like Schluter/wedi/etc there's no thought to it anymore. BUT at the same token, people are idiots and don't use the stuff correctly and then they all fail in a few months

Start learning. Most contractors suck a fat one. Watch some YouTube videos and read some forums.

I got my old man to take the Schluter course with me (he's late 60s and stopped tiling in the 2000s) when he was unemployed for a bit. After playing with the kerdiboard he was like with how light this stuff is maybe I'll start tiling again if I can't find a job
