From NHL.com> Hughes became the third player in the past 25 years with 20 points before his 10th game of a season, following Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (20 in 2021-22) and former Pittsburgh Penguins center Mario Lemieux (20 in 2002-03). … Bratt joined Hughes as the second New Jersey player with 15 or more points this season. It marked the second time the Devils/Rockies/Scouts franchise has had two players with 15 points prior to their 10th game, following 1986-87 (Pat Verbeek, Kirk Muller).

from Todd's blog at Infernal Access:
"More than 100 defenders have logged at least 15 minutes on the PK thus far. Smith ranks 1st attempts against/60, 2nd in high-danger chances against/60, and 3rd in expected goals against/60. He is also one of the few yet to be on for a single goal against."

so, it would make some sense to use Smith as a forward and have 7D once Miller comes back. The guy has abysmal 5v5 numbers, but is good on the PK, and we don't really have many great PK options other than Seigs and Marino.

I was waiting to see if anyone would respond to this. As suspected, crickets. The guy stinks at 5 on 5 but let's give him some credit for his PK skills. I could see him as a fourth line player and PK defenseman. Who sits, Bastian or Lazar?
