To prove that he tried to cut him with his skate? That's going to be so hard. I don't think he's gonna admit to it, unless he's top 5 dumbest person alive.
- blacksheep1

Unfortunately you're probably right. But here's to hoping.

Whether or not he meant to actually harm him is irrelevant. Nothing about what he did was a hockey play. At best he was grossly negligent with regards to his body positioning etc. Anyone with half a brain can understand why some would argue his actions were premeditated. It looked like he wanted to try out a wrestling movie on skates and didn't consider the outcome. He might be one of the dumbest people on the planet.

i watched the video and was almost sick - can't get it out of my head but it was crazy how nobody's really talking about how eh throws he leg up like that .

32 thoughts guys were going over the top about how he didnt mean it and hoping he gets help. probably too soon to dive that far in by that was not a hockey play

I never wanted to watch it but now I have, only up until the point of contact. In the slow mo you can see his outside skate clip the leg of the first guy as he tries to lean in for a check and his foot bounces up in an incredibly awkward way. (frank)ing insane to accuse him of anything. He’s going to end up killing himself

I mean it looks like he did it on purpose. But I have no way of knowing that beyond reasonable doubt.

Can we all not lose our collective minds for a second an acknowledge the skate bounces off the first guy before coming up? This is insane.

I mean I think of the people on this board I'm pretty level head right now.

1. Do I think he did it on purpose? Yes.
2. Am I able to come to that conclusion without any corroborating report? No.

Just an opinion.

Yes, yes they are lol. Calling him way worse. But I’m just more flabbergasted that we can all look at the same thing and see the exact opposite

The original link that was posted here was accompanied by the poster claiming “intent to kill”. Semantics really. But again, I’m just saying… how can we look at this and see his skate hit the other guys skate first, and not even bring it up as a likely cause of what happened? That’s “insane” to me

There was. I'm not arguing the the circumstances around this make this almost impossible to conclude that he did it on purpose. I think he did. I also can't be 100% sure of that claim. That's just the reality of the situation.

Rick has caused me to have significant pause with my outrage. I see where people say he clipped the other guy and it changed his balance/trajectory. But I don't believe it accounts for his radical change in body position, at least not all of it.

I want this to be a freak accident. I apologize for overreacting earlier.

You're good. Idk, seeing somebody die in real time playing sport is a subject that is going to elicit passion, both for and against.

I do think that the way it was framed didn't help. I'm normally more objective, I went down the rabbit hole quick.

It also doesn't help that the footage is barely better than bigfoot videos.

I mean it's British hockey. Guys who play ECHL play over there. Didn't expect to be high def. (Glad it wasn't. The Zednik hit was HD in 08. Still remember that. Vividly.)

I can agree that there is contact with another players skate.
However, even you must agree that it is an UNNATURAL reaction for that skate to fly up 4 feet into the players chest/throat area?
I think its very difficult to prove what that man was thinking ( or not thinking )so I really can't comment on "murder" accusations. But he should never play professional hockey ever again at any level...
