Rangers played their second worst game and found a way to win. They are middle of the pack 5v5. Mostly bc the 4th line is bad. Goodrow really an anchor there. They will need to move that contract to replace him for cheaper and fine a better option on the 3rd line instead of wheeler.

reading Carpinello's book, about halfway through, very easy reading

some tidbits:

1979 finals, after game 1 win over Montreal, Phil Esposito begged coach Fred Shero to not stay in Montreal, to get out, too many distractions, and he refused

the night before game two, it's believed Montreal players paid a bunch of hookers to go up to Ranger players rooms after curfue

5am, the morning of game 2, Espo walked out of his room at 5am and saw about 5 naked Ranger players rolling on the floor with hookers

Rangers went on to lose 6-2 and never got their groove back

in 1986, Edmonton was very cash strapped already and the Rangers and Edmonton had a trade worked out for Mark Messier, that would have included Vanbiesbrouck, Sandstrom, picks and 5 million dollars

Rangers ownership at the time wouldn't spend the 5 million

Term is the killer. 3 seasons left AFTER this current season. They’d have to include a 1st or equivalent and/or eat half the cap hit which would maybe free up a little over $1M after considering the salary of the player replacing him.

Otherwise, I agree. I don’t think they lose much going with Pitlick over him. He’s not doing the little things that made him stand out when he first got here.

Blake Wheeler skating with #NYR PP2, along with Kakko, Lafreniere, Gustafsson and Chytil

Needs a goal or point in the worst way. (He wasn't terrible vs Edmonton and Vancouver.)

He's been mostly bad. Not much else they can do with him at the moment. It's either Pitlick, Brodzinski, Othmann, or Kane.

I think it's too early for any knee jerk reactions, just keep rolling it all out there as is at least until thanksgiving, unless losing starts

Fair. I just break it down in my head. The season is roughly 12 % completed. Wheeler has zero points. Granted he has zero PP time thus far. But Trocheck and Cuylle are getting chances to score. They have a little bit. the fact Blake Wheeler hasn't lucked into a single point is concerning.

They are okay defensively, but spend no time in the offensive zone. Also a bit slow as a unit.

You're not totally wrong. He's fine offensively offensively. But he misses the net too much and has poop for brains. If you morphed Bonino's brain into Trocheck's skill set, you'd have a really good hockey player.
