The deal got nixed by the league, and they didn't have time to make another due to the trade deadline having passed.

What additional repercussions were you looking for there...?

- kingcong39

For trying to force it, I'd say they deserve to lose a pick as well...I'd say a 1st for Ottawa, 2nd for them. For the cap circumvention, I'd take that amount off their cap number for a few years and make them sell players to get under that target.

So about a 2nd and a cap hit of around 75M for 2-3 years.

Every league deals with injuries and teams using the rules to their advantage. Overruling team doctors is tough to do.

If you don't want guys returning the day the playoffs start or you want some kind of cap during the playoffs, change the rules.

- Lunaion

Could very easily get second opinions, they just won't. You're right a rule change, having the cap apply in the playoffs, is the cleanest solution. But it doesn't change the fact that in the eyes of a lot of fans, Vegas and TB bought those Cups.

IMO, can't have that be the case for too long before people stop caring. Can't root for the Washington Generals in any serious fashion.

#Sens owner Michael Andlauer says #NHL did not advise him of either investigation - botched Dadonov "no-trade" clause or Pinto sports betting incident - before he closed on purchase.

“Maybe they didn’t want to disrupt

- kingcong39[it] to make sure the seller got the best price possible."

"You look at a young man who is making millions of dollars and representing the community... but he's 21 years old. Wayne Gretzky goes on MGM and talks about betting. Think about being injured, having time on your hands and a cell phone..."

To be fair, he does have a very serious gripe, and potentially could have a case against the NHL for not disclosing investigations.

I’m all for it. Let the chaos ensue. get Gary Bettman kicked out, let’s go!

You doing the same cap gymnastics for the other 10+ teams operating over the cap limit this season, and last season, and the one before...?

The above sounds more than a little bit like jealously.

I haven't heard you complaining about Montreal or any of the other teams that are over the cap limit.

He sure does have a legitimate complaint.

>>> If what Andlauer is saying about the NHL not informing him on the Dadonov investigation is true, it basically means that the league withheld information in order to further a transaction, about an investigation involving withholding information in order to further a transaction

I would be a bit mad, not like he put a few million down to buy the team.

So league doctors then? The PA would never allow it, nor should they. Anyone who's ever been to an "independent medical examiner" knows that if the doctor has a conflict they will always defer to who's paying them. And IMEs have nothing BUT conflict. Which would also be the case for a league doctor.

Compared to the guys wearing Winter Jackets out there. Coming from where he played he is probably more ready than 1/4 of the Bills roster

Fraudulent concealment

As for Bettman, yes he played a part for sure. They will never find proof of it though.

The egregious ones, sure. As I said before, TB can get the horns as well. Have to start somewhere, with all the back alley dealings Vegas has done in such a short time period, I would make an example of them if historical rule breaking got shut down.

Then haven't been reading, no offense, but I've been harping on this for some time. Have even said that cap circumvention could be the end of our sport if they don't watch it and that was in reference to Tampa Bay.

(frank) the PA, firstly. They can give up all the guaranteed contracts if they don't like it. Secondly, they can get rid of team doctors then. I have no issue with the NHL having doctors assigned to every team that are paid and answer to the league, even if they're conflicted towards helping the league. It's the only way to level the playing field it would seem.

Is it? The playing field is pretty level now, any team can do it. That's pretty level to me. Otherwise, if you think the Eichel clusterfück was bad it'll happen for every single injury.

I object to the enforecement of the rules fundamentally. But, which side is fighting for a change? Teams need to be able to deal with injuries and aren't fighting. Players are getting paid and seem content. League isn't really able to enforce it and seems content as well.

Matt Murray not even attempting to play this year is BS. Hurts the Sabres today, but it could be them next year.
