The Dadanov trade from Vegas to Anaheim. I believe a lot of this started because Vegas traded him to a team he wouldn't waive for. They said they did it bc they didn't know about the NMC...but it's been pointed out Cap Friendly knew, so was just wondering how that could possibly be the case. It seems like they didn't WANT to know.

What I don't understand is how Ottawa kept it a secret from Vegas, when Cap Friendly had the NMC on their site. How does Cap Friendly know, but Vegas doesn't. Willfully ignorant?

Furthermore, Dad's agent reached out to them about this when the news broke. Vegas tried to go through with the trade anyways. What's the penalty for knowingly trying to circumvent a NMC by the host team? Should be more than hiding it from a team that wasn't on the list, I would think.

Saw one the tsn guys say they didn't provide the proper list. Makes it sound like they provided an older one.

On the other hand, if it's that innocent, the penalty seems extreme.

Yeah, that's a pretty pedestrian offense compared to the punishment, I don't buy it. I also don't buy that Vegas acquired a player and while Cap Friendly knew, they were ignorant of the clause in there.

Ottawa got hammered for lying about it during the trade call between them and Vegas.

Vegas should've asked the league if they felt there was a disconnect.

Maybe they considered what Arizona did as trying to gain a competitive advantage, while they categorized what Ottawa did more as negligence?

I think, if I ran a major sports franchise, that a NMC on an unaffiliated site would make me very wary and I would DEFINITELY call the agent before I tied myself to paying the player millions of dollars. I guess Vegas runs a very loose ship.

I think, if I ran a major sports franchise, that a NMC on an unaffiliated site would make me very wary and I would DEFINITELY call the agent before I tied myself to paying the player millions of dollars. I guess Vegas runs a very loose ship.

Capfriendly has been wrong in the past, and did they have any intention of trading him at the time they acquired him, enough that knowing Dadonov had a clause would have prohibited them from making the trade to get him?

Doubtful.
