Part of taking the next step is getting leadership from the top of your roster, not relying on the bottom. Can no longer afford to overpay the bottom guys.

Tage’s thrifty deal allows a little extra to pay proven vets like Girgensons

Excellent asset allocation

What % sure are you about pk88 and the Sabres ?
- Boss34

If the Sabres are at least in contention when Kane is ready to play, I'll say 90%.

Tuch is such a good player for this since he can go in all situations, but I’d want my 4th line to be guys who can eat minutes against top lines to free up the players you mention to play against the other teams worse lines.

Prime LOG line would be incredible on this team right now

I guess it’s possible you could get that from young players but seems kind of risky

- robz228

It's a numbers game Rob.

Tage, Greenway, Benson, Mittelstadt, Skinner, Peterka, Cozens, Tuch, Quinn, Krebs, Savoie, Kulich, Rosen.

That's 13 players vying for 9 spots, by your logic.

If you want to relegate Greenway to the 4th line along with Krebs, that's still 11 players fighting for 9 positions for the next 2 seasons.

Are you going to artificially hold some of them down in the AHL until they need to backfill when Tuch and Skinner's contracts end in the next 2 to 3 seasons?

I'm not even bringing up other promising forward prospects like Ostlund, Wahlberg, Kisakov, Poltapov or Jake Richard.

Any savings on Tage went to Dahlin. Their long term deals overall are just market value now.

They can waste money on the bottom of the roster this year. Can't when these extensions kick in, especially if they want to extend Mitts. At some point they will have to pay a goalie something as well. Terrible spot to cut costs.

One year deal to close out the 23-24 season, then reassess in the offseason.

If they truly believe they need one more quality, veteran forward to complete their roster, he's not the forward they should be going for.

It's this coming offseason: Stamkos.

If they don't believe in these prospects, they made a massive mistake not cashing in on their picks/prospects/cap space the last 2 years.

They need to just adopt those black jerseys as their main jersey again.

What’s their record wearing those?

- IndianaSabresFan

Anyone know if there is some kind of rule that says that a team has to wear traditional hone and away (blue, gold and white, blue, gold) for home and away?

Why can we have black and red for home and the beautiful and classic white, blue, gold on away?????

Krebs - 0 points in 9 games

Benson - 2 points in 6 games

Send Benson down…..

Kid looks like he belongs. Hes not gonna score 50 points his first year.

Can see him getting around 30 points.

- ZiggyBuff

Prob with this take is that a few guys realize that they don’t have it but work to make themselves indispensable with the jokes and the camaderie so they can keep playing in the the NHL.

See krebs, Bryson, jost.

Always smiling and glad-handing with the. Big stars.

Until this week I would have said Mittst-poo bc he’s best buddies with Dahlsie but he has redeemed himself.

That’s just my take.

quinn
all the kids in rochester

benson
savoie

peterka was moved to rw

tuch

I don't see a path for kane

- homiedclown

My hope for Kane is when Jagr kept playing before he left the NHL. There was a sweet spot where he was stil scoring and texhingrh work ethic it takes to be a true gamer.

Problem is he had that surgery, is older, and beat up a cab driver, etc.

I like the Crouse or tougher guy thoughts and a top 4 d to relieve pressure of Power and Dahlin.

Comrie surprised me until he got hurt and UPL didn’t f it up as much and i thought he would.

krebs has done nothing 5 on 5 and has been replaced by tage, tuch and greenway for pk with girgens and okposo

his path with this club is shrinking by each week

- homiedclown

Hopefully he asks for a trade or Kyle gets a couple game suspension even though he doesn’t deserve it.

Other than joke Allstar game, what has Girgs really do other than being Latvias 4th most okay-est player?

I would rather Cory Perry or pat maroon here.

That money shouldn’t be going towards the second biggest miss of the 2013 draft after Gringoreeko

Use the saving to get bina fide NHL players.

I trust management on Girgensons over Perry/ maroon

Both are old and shot

Girgensons plays good defense

First month in the books for this new season, played by a similar team fans have been accustomed to watching. Inconsistent and soft, there have been flashes of a full 200’ game being played by the team, still have yet to put together a full 60 minutes.

Result: 9gp 4-5-0 = 9th place in the wild card.

The continuation of slow starts at home have carried over from last season. Sabres finished the month strong by finding a way to fight through that and beat the Avalanche, who must’ve spent the night at bada bing as their play was atrocious.

Questions still looming:

- Who is the goalie?

- How could you go into the season with Olofsson on this roster?

- Why are they not wearing the goat heads as often as possible?

14 games for the Sabres in November, only 4 home games.

What are your expectations for the month?

You can't both trust your prospects and also want to bring in one final impact forward?

Guessing your perspective is Kane centric, and not about all potential forwards they could be looking to add.

Levi and UPL look solid. Benson stays. Savoiy sent down. Ollofson never plays for the sabres again

Really don't think they will have a choice soon, or there gonna have to trade some. Can only slow play for so long. Gonna have prospects blocking prospects.

Bingo.
Youth, enthusiasm, speed, skill that is what is need to play say 12 minutes a night against top lines to keep up with them..not slow, plundering guys that can only play 6 minutes a night against top lines.
