Does anyone else feel like Pinto did something personally to Bruce Garrioch? Dude wants his career over. What a weird segment in the 2nd intermission.

Sens came out soft and it haunted them. Hot goalies will happen. Have to find a way to win. DJ knows his time is coming.

What is it with this team and slow starts.

The team only picks it up when their backs are against the wall. By then it is too late.

Slow starts in Buffalo and now on the Island. Not a good look for this team if they have playoff aspirations. There are again playing themselves out of playoff contention in late October .... will Nov. also be a repeat of past years? It is frustrating to watch and see as the team does very little. Smashed up to the cap ceiling and we aren't even a playoff contender yet.

Does Kubalik do anything out there? No goals and no assists so far this season, 2 shots and no hits in this game? Seriously. Why they don't either trade him or waive him to Belleville and bring up someone who might actually get a few points? If some team takes him off waivers, then great, we open up some cap space and at least don't have to cough up a sweetener to ditch him. And if he clears to Belleville then maybe he can ruminate over his career a bit.

At least our goaltending fared better tonight with a decent save percentage.

Agreed 100, particularly on the PP. Sorokin was great, but this yet another game where they get so many shots and lose. Extremely frustrating because there is talent on this team.

Still can't figure out what Stutzle was thinking on the 2 on 1 with the score tied and he tries a pass. Why didn't he shoot when he had the time? His inexperience? His lack of confidence? It was a boneheaded play that quickly led to the Isles scoring the winning goal (and Stu was tripped up and waited on his knees for a few more seconds trying to sell a tripping call to the refs). This kid has got to smarten up and quit playing his stupid little games.

Bruce never met a press buffet he didn't like. Nobody in Ottawa asks for or listens to "question period".

Sounds like Bruce. I'll be very curious to hear what the actual transgression was once mor information comes to light. If he'd been betting on NHL games or his own he'd be out of the league, so this may be smaller than some think, but the league needs to make an example of him.

Last report was some kind of proxy betting. So someone, maybe a younger or underage sibling used his account to bet on non hockey sports games. Or bet on the new Sens owner was anothre speculation I heard.

Probably just doing PD grunt work to see if Pinto will sign for less.

While you never wish an injury on a player, this will be interesting. Chabot’s play this year has not been strong on either side of the puck. Watching games, its clear there has been some challenges allocating proper ice time and proper partners for Sanderson, Chychrun, and Chabot 5 on 5 and on special teams. With Chabot out, allocation is might be much easier and partners might be more straight forward instead of forcing 2 of 3 to play on one pairing which really hasn’t worked well to date. Assuming Zub comes back and Branstrom is out long term, it’s not inconceivable to see:

Sanderson – Hamonic
Chychrun – Zub
JBD – Klevan

Or a mixture of that. While a bit weak on experience, if JBD and Klevan are actually going to be NHL d-men and play accordingly, this could be ok and actually might show that Chabot might be redundant to the team and could be used as a solid trade chip to address other needs.

Give Matinpalo, Kleven, and Guenette minutes, and use the relief to rotate in various forwards from Belleville with Reinhardt, Imama. Leave JBD down, he's not an NHLer. IMO both Smejkal and Sokolov have not earned any NHL time with their poor defensive work in Belleville.

People are generally hoping to see Kleven get another NHL chance, but Matinpalo is the guy I think they really need to be calling up. The most pressing need is on the right side, and he's a natural RHD, 6'3-205, has pretty good mobility, has 5yrs experience in the SM-Liiga, and looked pretty solid in the pre-season.

It's not great, but at least there's a decent physical presence on each pairing, as well as someone who's played pro-hockey for more than 1.5yrs. You could also see Larsson get the call, if they really want to insulate Kleven from being thrown into an unnecessarily difficult situation.

I believe your math is off. I believe it is calculated as Chabot's salary minus the 6 games he has already played. Once he goes back, the Sens add the salary back (minus the 6 games minus the games he missed). But I could be wrong.

I'd wager he's sorry he did this.
Odds are, he will never do this again.

According to Capfriendly, Ottawa has just shy of $6 million in cap space after calling up Klevin and Matinpalo.

I would have liked to have seen them call up 1 or 2 forwards (would put us at 22 or 23 players on active roster assuming Zub and Brannstrom are still injured). That way DJ could have some wiggle room to send messages to underperforming players .... like sitting Kubalik and playing Jarventie in his place.

This should be an opportunity for the whole team to become 100% focused on defensive play. It could end up being a win overall if they take that approach.

So, I guess we get to see if Sanderson is as good as some of us believe him to be.

Lot of pressure on the kid.

If nothing else, it should drive home the point to some of the forwards they need to play a better quality of team D.
