Shouldn’t have been a dumbass then

This was one of those rare occasions where there was very few people whining that it was a clean hit.

I see it as:

- One game for what would have been a game misconduct but happened right at the end of the 3rd

- One game for leaving his feet

- One game for the fact that it was entirely unnecessary and served no purpose as a "hockey play"

- One game for, taking into account all of the above, causing an injury

You wouldn’t be torn about them if you lost your membership tomorrow along with your healthcare, raises, etc i imagine

That's just your average at will employee. Been there.

Are you part of or have ever been employed while in a union? It is mostly a great thing. I have piece of mind and great benefits.

But it protects some absolute pieces of poop. The only way to get rid of them is if they do something incredibly egregious. The worst part is that the union will fight for them until the bitter end.

Nearly 15 years in the CAW (Canadian Auto Workers) union. I could tell you stories. The one thing I know for sure is that I just went in and did my job everyday and went home, and the union never did a thing for me (specifically. I am not unaware of the collective bargaining advantages). They sure looked after the guys who didn't do their work, though.

Of course. But, there's a big difference between representing a member who is being treated unfairly by the employer and one who say, I don't know, punches a co-worker in the face for a minor insult and then once reinstated after appeal, gets paid for the time he was suspended, including any OT anyone else worked, and then goes off on "stress" leave once the cheque for the reimbursement comes in.

One example of many. I can't for the life of me figure out why that company went under!!!

How can you violate a law still be an upstanding union member?

Simple. Give them your dues every month!
Which, by the way, the union started collecting from each employee on day one, even though you didn't qualify to enter the union until completing the 90 days probation.

Just thought of another related union fact!
My wife's union (Elementary School Teachers of Ontario) were one of the majority owers of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, but I believe they sold their share a while back.
