egg on their face if comrie or 6k was claimed by tampa
side note comrie looks like our best goalie this year - homiedclown
Not any more… haven’t seen any updates on the injury. Didn’t look great. Could be out for a bit and then the recovery to get back into form.
If he’s out any decent amount of time, he may look like our best goalie again in January/ February. |

I mean he’s the one that shot the puck out of play, gave up the ensuing power play goal on a shot he needs to save, that allowed New Jersey to sit in a 1-3-1 the rest of the period and capitalize on the Sabres aggressiveness to push for a goal no ? - Swedish_Jesus
What’s a bigger problem?
Our 3rd goalie, or the fact that we have no answers for the dreaded 1-3-1?
Seems like the latter is concerning |

Might be the fact that we started with 3 AND the coaches can’t figure out the 1-3-1 |

Saying the Sabres deserved to win against both Montreal and New Jersey is some statement, when the Montreal game was even, and New Jersey played like they did in the 3rd period last night. |

Sabres made out ahead in both games.
The Sabres were up nearly 2 excepted goals at even strength against New Jersey yesterday at the end of the second period. Even after the third period they still made out ways ahead in quality while the Devils made out in quantity.
But hey Vanecek can stop two breakaways and 4 other high danger chances in the second period but UPL is the only goalie in the league that gives up 4 or 5 goals every night and none of them are ever his fault.
Jake Allen saved over 2 goals expected in the Montreal game, and although that game was much closer then the eye test indicated, to say the Sabres didn’t deserve at minimum 1 point heck even both points is a perfectly valid statement.
Whether you want to go eye test or numbers based.
I blame myself though for coming on here this morning, carry on

A bunch of what you said is not true.
They lost the expected goal battle against Montreal at both 5v5 and overall.
They won it at 5v5 last night, but lost overall against New Jersey due to special teams.
Feel free to ignore special teams, if it helps what you are peddling. |

The “complainers” this offseason - “Hey man we need a big summer and a steadier goalie”
Kinda crazy how other teams win because they stop breakaways and stuff. Wish my team got those kinds of wins |

I’m sorry UPL is not it. Commie can’t ever stay healthy and Levi will be good but he needs AHL/pro experience.
This season is over. There is no way they are making the playoffs with UPL as your starter. He can’t stop a beach ball. God forbid he makes a save on any deflected shot.
If you score 4 goals you should at least be getting a loser point. With UPL it’s a guarantee L.
GMKA needs to make a fooking trade now. Use whatever assets you have to get a REAl NHL goalie on this team. You have the offense, serviceable defense and no goalie. |

They’ve looked good at times. But they aren’t good through 8 games.
They needed a FWD. They needed a Goalie, and they could’ve used a reliable top 4 D who doesn’t cheap shot guys and take constant penalties.
They did none of it |

Wasn’t a terrible game but exposed more of the glaring issues we all discuss here on a regular basis.
Over passing when shot is available (easy to train/fix)
Stupid penalties (easy to fix)
Non-stop blind drop passes that turn into odd man rushes or breakaways (bench the next person who does this or at least threaten it)
No net front presence on defense or offense (biggest challenge but can be coached. Samuelsson and Greenway need to step up on this)
Goaltending depth (clearly an issue)
Over playing Okposo (needs to end now)
Finding a parking spot outside of Buffalo for Olofsson (needs to happen soon or the season is going to get away)

Focusing on 5v5 is fine, but the rest of the game matters to, and often is the decider in many games. |
