a lot of wingers coming up
it's a cap era
great value if they moved tuch this offseason, and easier to do if you lock casey up long term

why are we trading casey again?
if your going to move a guy up front with value, it's probably tuch, use that money to sign casey long term - homiedclown
Wouldn't it cost what Tuch is making on his current deal and then some to sign Casey to an extension? |

I see the value in it. Don't like it though. But you're right, the value is very high.

casey and tuch current money would be about the same as casey's new money and savorie or kulichs cap hit next season

We all know they are not trading captain vibes at any point.
He was the first outsider who signed up as wanting to be here.
He's going nowhere. |

Highly doubt Tuch is going anywhere, his contract at this point is a steal. Get rid of the Jost, Okposo, Girgensons, Olofsson, Krebs. |

It's hilarious that the above is contextually factual for the Sabres. It's also pathetic.

By measurement of homer fan emotions, none of the players named matter as they are only 1 year deals, they don't hurt the team.

No team cares about 1/4 of their forward group, the 4th line is literally just guys picked up off the street on league minimum. They serve no roles so these players can't hurt the team because they only signed for 1 year.
Even if you pay them league max, it's only 1 year - how could that hurt the team?

Tuch is great, the internal justifications we have all become accustomed to are funny, not a dig at anyone.
He wants to be here so he stays - the saying was desperate for a desperate team in a desperate time.
Lets be honest, players look at teams like Boston and think "I get the opportunity to play there".

Voice of reason.
To be clear, I am not advocating for the trade of Mitts to fire him into the sun to be rid of him.
Quite the opposite in fact.
It is in full recognition of his value, under the premise that to acquire value, one needs to trade value back.
Also, acquiring a true Top 3/4 Rh-Dman will take a lot if value to consummate the deal.
Yes, Mitts is finally achieving his potential as a 7OA pick 7 seasons ago...that is a ton that has been invested in him by the Sabres.
I have far more confidence that one of a plethora of F prospect can replace him, than one of the D prospects in the pool can achieve a true #3/4 RhD.
So, looking at the vacuum of should the Sabres trade Mitts now, without the proper context is a very easy assertion to make. I don't think it holds water without leaking a bit when in context. |

Hear what your saying, have to look at the big picture to. Kulich has been playing a lot of C in Rochester. Is he your 3C of the future, if he is then Mitts is a logical choice to use for your Top RD Upgrade. |
