I’m about to hop onto a four-hour flight with no internet, but hearing there has been progress between Devon Toews and the Avalanche on an extension. Toews would have been a highly-coveted UFA next summer. We will see what today brings.

I’m no fan of 7 year deals and 5 would be better, but Toews has skill and has value and is not a grinding forward that will break down quicker.

He's a big part of their team. Plays huge minutes in all situations, PP, PK etc. and they are in the middle of their win now years so you have to pay him. They have a few key players to sign next year, Rantanan, Georgev and Byram which will be tough. The Cap makes it tough to keep your teams together especially when they are successful as the players are as well and want to get paid. Hate the cap for my team but love it as it keeps the league on a level playing field.

It is game day people. This is where the metal meets the ice. This is where the haters become believers and the believers become doubters.

My prediction for the month of October is 5-3. Those loses coming at the hands of Devs, Avs, and Buffalo on their end of a home at home. Would I be surprised with a 4-4 or 3-5 record no.

I will hold judgement of everything until Thanksgiving. Just happy hockey is back.

Hopefully the team gets off to a good start. I was surprised fans were booing during pre-season games. That seems a bit hasty.
