I see lots of positivity on here today! Glad to see everyone is in regular season mode already! Next!

ND isn't their competition. I don't want Foerster or Brink on the fourth line, playing eight minutes with Poehling and Hathaway. And the Flyers aren't going to create a 4th "scoring" line. Their 4th line will be used the traditional way -- mostly for checking and physicality. That's just the reality of how they'll be deployed. I don't want that to be Foerster's duties nor is that suitable for Brink. Foerster and Brink are each other's competition for right now, with pressure on someone like Farabee to maintain their spot.

Weird...it's like 90% of NHL teams are built this way for their 4th line yet it seems it's only the Flyers stuck in the stone age.

Who are those teams that use young skilled guys on the 4th line? Oh yeah those teams suck balls.

Talking about how the roster is currently shaping up is factual. Opinions on it can be perceived individually as positive, negative or neutral. It depends on the perspective. Glad you opted not to discuss if you don’t care.

It’s a rebuild. Is rebuilding the priority or the footnote?

From the looks of that practice lineup, it seems like their going to start with rotating Brink and Foerster. Just another piece of evidence that Tortorella needs to go.

I really hope that the God Emperor Tortorella isn’t planning on dressing Walker-Seeler as the 3rd pair and sitting both kids. Though, it would be totally in character for the a-hole to do just that.

Bad enough that either Brink or Foerster will be sitting so a talentless goon can play. Pitiful.

Tortorella needs to go and if that happens, it sure seems as though Briere either doesn't have the smarts to want to, or the clout to stand up to him.

ND isn't their competition but there are older vet players who likely aren't part of the future that should be moved down the lineup so both Foerster and Brink can play full time.

Good old fashioned Flyers hockey. Love it. Gold standard.
- StepfordSam

The Flyers created this themselves. Always have to bring in vets. Too chicken poop or too stupid to know that they have to fully integrate young players. They refuse to modernize.

It’s Turkey day in Canada….so to keep things positive Happy Thanksgiving…enjoying a beer while I cook my bird in the deep fryer….I get some want to see the Flyers move on from certain types of players…and I’d be fine with Laughton on that 4th line…but I want to see both Foerster and Brink play with solid offensive guys….I’m also reserving judgement until we see how things shake out for the first couple of weeks….ok back to the Bird.

the issue is they still think playoffs. Just added a #1 center and top 9 winger. Addition by subtraction in the offseason. This is the coach/co-gm1's though process.

torts dont care about next month let alone the future rebuild/

Happy Thanksgiving!

For sure, have to see how the regular season lineups actually pan out. Don’t see how waiving Allison changes anything for Foerster or Brink or helps younger d-men get more NHL looks though.

Willing to suffer through current choices as long as they do move out vets mid-season. It is true, vets need to play to hold or increase value. Maybe ND is carried by his linemates and is traded, NOT, but others like Laughton need to play and be traded

Do you honestly think the coach/cogm1 is going to move Laughton at any point this season?

Who are the other like laughton who need to be traded?

I didn't realize it was Turkey Day for those north of the border. Happy Thanksgiving! And yes, I'm also reserving judgement until we see how things shake out!

I was rooting for Allison to make the team, even if it was on the 4th line. I wonder what this kid could do if he ever played a full, healthy season?

I see zero reason why Allison doesn’t start over ND, if he gets hurt, then at least you have your final answer.

If that comes to pass, then I’d have questions to DB about what the plan is here. Play all our vets and finish with 75 pts or play all the kids and see them improve, finish with 70 pts and a higher pick. I know which one I’d take.
- Hextall271

Sadly I feel this team could actually fare better with the kids over the hoser vets.

They don't have to do that. I want them to make trades when they get the right deal for future pieces. I don't know if they received the right offer for Laughton. Right now the cap picture limits the market. I don't see Laughton as a good candidate for a trade deadline deal. More of an off season kind of move.

Laughton
Farabee
Atkinson

I have a few more to add but selling low doesn't move the needle too much.

well you are the only one. He has a very fair contract with term (2 years after this) that provides teams certainty and several playoff runs. An idea player to move for all involved.

Cam has zero trade value at the moment. Maybe next deadline unless he is performing very well. If he is then the coach/co-gm1 will keep his boy.

Our defensive pairings better not be what that lineup is. Staal and Walker on the 3rd together is like watching 2 Yandles on the ice at the same time.

York/Sanheim
Andrae/Risto
Seeler/roatate(staal, z, walker)

Best move is to make a trade, maybe see what walker can fetch. I would rather have Grans up over staal & walker, Attard can't play D so while his offensive game is good he needs more AHL experience. I moved Andrae with Risto to cover for Risto's brain farts, and Seeler need to play 3rd pairing mins and PK no more. Rotate the last player should be a coaches job. If it was me I give Z the 3rd pairing left spot and move seeler to the right side.

SO Something along these lines

If he is healthy and playing decently by the TDL, Cam is worth a 3 or 4th pick easy. Players like Staal, Walker will be harder to move but with injuries come need so late round picks.
