Edmundson off the table. Traded to Leafs.

Return for Edmundson is:

NYI’s 3rd round pick in 2024 Draft & Chicago’s 5th pick in 2025 Draft

Caps retain 50%

Not bad if Leafs can resign him for the right price.

Per Darren:

Let’s keep an eye on Washington and veteran Joel Edmundson. The big left shot Dman has a number of clubs circling. Toronto, Tampa Bay and Boston to name a few. As of late last night, the Bruins seemed to have the inside track. See how the morning unfolds.

Not sure how I feel about this. 30 years old, bigger cap hit at $3.5 million on current contract although actual is $1.75 this season. UFA.

My gut is saying pass unless the asking price is cheap and you can resign him for cheap money.

Not the season to be blowing assets on rentals IMO.

Saw he traded to leafs..left side is biggest need and looks like Lindholm back soon..top 4 with chuck, Carlo and Lindholm filled out by a top 4 lefty would be good..dont think can rely on Forbort/Gryzz and Lohrei..

Just had back surgery too so probably going to be even slower.

Don’t see the point in this. Fat Pat

Bruins get Andrew Peele for Zboril and 3rd rounder

Odd trade as he is right handed Dman plus given up a 3rd..$2.75 million a year for another year..was a healthy scratch this year too

Doesn't make sense especially the cap hit🤷

Yup, another dumb one it would seem. Just giving poop away for nothing. Donnie must think he can turn his game around in Boston. Pretty big risk.

Not for nothing, but these GM’s need to stop handing out NMC’s to everybody and this isn’t an issue. Too many guys have them, IMO.

TRADE DEADLINE LOSERS
Boston Bruins
I didn’t expect much from the Bruins, given they were among the most asset-poor teams in the league after burning through their first-round picks last year in deadline deals for Tyler Bertuzzi and Dmitry Orlov. But even through that lens, it wasn’t a great day for GM Don Sweeney. When the Andrew Peeke deal broke, I assumed Boston was receiving a third-round pick as a favor for taking Peeke off Columbus’ hands. He’s having a bad year and has been a healthy scratch – on a horrible team – at times this season. He has two seasons left at a $2.75 million AAV, and Daily Faceoff insider Frank Seravalli surmised this week that Peeke was even a buyout candidate. Yet Sweeney felt Peeke was worth a third-rounder and Jakub Zboril? Curious. Worse still: the PR nightmare of the nixed Linus Ullmark trade. The Bruins reportedly had some type of major trade in place that Ullmark blocked due to geography. That will make things awkward between the Bruins and the reigning Vezina Trophy winner going forward.

WTF Donny !!!

Thought it was only 1 year left on contract, not 2 years..makes the deal even worse..why commit $2.75 million for 2 years for a 3rd pairing defenseman? The $20 million cap space available was a ace in the hole for and they just pissed away $2.75 million of it..bizarre

This deal bothers me the more and more I think about it. The only way this deal works out is if Boston’s system/structure completely turns this guy’s game around. They obviously see something here …. Time will tell. Big risk, and if this doesn’t pan out it’s just a completely boneheaded waste of $2.75 against the cap for 2 more seasons after this one.

Fingers crossed here Donny …. This one has the potential for a putrid stench if this guy doesn’t completely turn his game around.

The fact this kid went to San Jose says he might have just wanted to get out of New England or looking at post hockey opps. But the Bruins should really never lose homegrown talent from local colleges. It should be a huge advantage… dumb

Yeah, he and/or Quillan would have been great. Quinnipiac produces some under the radar type NHL players.
