That Marino trade lol. Nice work Ron. - madmike71
But I don't understand why you just want to lose him? He's making almost the league minimum and he's only 23 years old. Not much of a risk.
Think of it this way. If Marino was still on the team with a 4.4 mil cap hit, it would have been a lot harder to get Karlsson here! |

I wonder if the Pens cap situation is already hindering roster choices. They may only be able to keep 12 forwards if Guentzel isn't going on LTIR.
A guy like Poulin or Puustinen might be more interesting for the third line, and then send them down in 5 games and put Nylander there. But they'd have to waive whoever wins their 13th forward (Z, Hinostroza, or Wagner seemingly atm) to do that and might not want to risk it for 5 games.
I hate being so crushed against the cap that it influences decisions and usually blocks young players from an opportunity that way. |

You'd have had to include Marino in the trade, but you'd like to think you'd have gotten more value from him. |

We wouldn't have had Petry if Marino wasn't moved so... Don't think it has anything to do with EK. Hextall made some pretty bad decisions and not letting him off the hook haha. |

I still still don't understand why they want to just lose him. His age and contract make the risk almost zero! |

They like Friedman and maybe even Shea better. They're likely opening with a 21 man roster so even though he's cheap, they just don't have room to stash a player on potential. And that hurts because I still kind of want them to, but Friedman looks better prepared to help now. |

If you're not going to play him, and you can't keep him up due to cap restraints... what do you do?

Can't they just send him to the minors? Bring him up when you almost guarantee to have injuries?
Also, I know he's a right handed shot but to me, Chad Ruhwedel brings nothing to the table! |

1. He's on waivers to be sent to the minors, but he has to pass through waivers to get there.
2. He's a lefty

So awesome that Carter is in on the 4th line and Zohorna is going to sit. Love it.

He's a lefty, correct but to me I'd rather keep him than Ruhwedel. There is no upside to him! |

Arugably, the worst Pen's trade was Nasland for Stojanov.
This Marino fiasco gives it a run for the money. |

It's not even close. Naslund was a star player.

He has a one year contract. Assuming it's two way though don't think it was confirmed and it doesn't matter to us. (Actually makes it easier to sneak through waivers if needed) - Tojo.
Gotchya, thanks |
