So, in the Wild Card Series in baseball, the team with home field gets all three games at home, is that right? |

Refs can delete posts and ban posters. Perhaps the blogger couldn't do so, but the refs can. - Zezel
I got banned for telling the old LA King blogger "dancing boy" to cool it after the US lost the gold medal to Canada.
Not sure if it was him or the mod that banned me. |

You did good dmntedsie.
I've been banned a few times, but not for long enough in my opinion. You can't even delete your own account on this site.

I've never been banned in 10 years.
I made an alt a long time ago, and it got banned in less than a day. |

That's the funny thing - this site used to be chock full of bloggers who were just trollers.
Anthony San SanFilippo was the Flyers' blogger for a while - and he was absolutely terrible. Didn't know the first thing about hockey, which was pretty frightening considering he was a "real life" sports reporter. |

If I was a blogger and part of the software is that a forum thread is automatically created when a new blog is posted, then I would want some moderator powers over that particular thread.
If the forum thread is attached/linked to the blog post, and the purpose of the thread is to discuss the blog article, then I would expect the blogger to have moderator privileges over that particular thread. Maybe not the entire forums, but certainly those threads attached to the blog articles.
When every thread devolves into a political poopshow, it makes the blogger look bad and it makes the entire site look bad. But, I guess it's obvious that Ek doesn't give a poop. Politics drives engagement and engagement equals revenue, so he's OK with his forums being a poopshow if it drives in traffic and sells ads.

The content of the blogs isn’t really an important part of HB’s business model. This isn’t a rumour site. It’s just a place where a bunch of people who are into hockey hang out and discuss mostly hockey. I’d say in most days there’s no more than 5% of the discussion that directly touches on the content of the blog. |

I guess it's also a product of how dated the HB software is. It doesn't have an inline comment section for articles like modern platforms do. It has a walled forum section with links to the blog posts. It's clunky. But, give Ek credit, he's gotten his money's worth for a piece of software he bought in the 1990s.

If I could suggest two improvements to this site:
1. Allow users to like and dislike posts, with the option to not see posts below a certain threshold.
2. Add a feature where you can block seeing the posts of your least favourite posters.
It would make this site so much more user-friendly. |

If the bolded happened, I fear some might be talking only to themselves for a while. |

I got banned for a year because some dyke got offended because I *farted in Crimson ninja's general direction*. Forgot who she was but she was the Nazi mod on this site around a decade ago. |
