I don't know who said that they were ever in trouble, but they have yet to beat a good opponent. Beat the Pats and Vikings who are a combined 1-5, and beat the Bucs tonight that had beaten two teams (Vikes and Bears) that are a combined 0-6. Eh what? - Phillywhiteout

Vickl tailed off to after his successful 2010 season. - THE EVIL WITHIN You better hope Hurts is better than Vick. Vick was nothing more than a glorified RB. He never figured out how to read NFL defenses. He'd go through his first progression and then run for his life. It's actually amazing that he lasted as long as he did. |

All that focus on culture coming in handy tonight.
Maybe Jones can give us some Wawa coupons in the next alumni night. - FlyerFan3260
So do you want them to drastically improve this season and have a glimmer of hope to be a bubble playoff team, while diminishing our chance for better draft picks? I thought the consensus on here was to chalk up a few bad seasons and rebuild for the future? We can't have it both ways. I'm not sure if Jonesy, DB, etc are the answer, but willing to give them a chance.

About the only positive thing I saw was that Coots seemed to make it through the entire game ok. - Dkos
That's definitely a plus! I hope I'm wrong but very skeptical that he will stay healthy the whole season. |

I am happy with a losing season. Rebuilding takes sacrifice.
Let’s see how many young kids many that opening night lineup before stating Jones, Briere, and Torts are the right men for the job.

Name one good team the cowboys beat - 2Real The Cowboys didn't beat anybody good either, but they smoked the two teams that they beat by a combined 70-10! Not sure how they got clowned by Arizona yesterday cause I didn't see the game, but it's rather obvious it's gonna come down to them and the Birds for the division as usual. The Gnats and Deadskins suck although the Gnats will give the Eagles fits in one of the games that they play as long as they get Barkley back. |

The Eagles have beaten every opponent they've been scheduled to play this season so far. They don't make the schedule. Why do you have such a bug up your ass about Philly teams other than the Flyers.

I’m not disagreeing. I do feel like Marc Savard wasn’t one of the sexier names as a playmaking center in his time in the NHL though. I am looking for a comparison for Frost, if anyone has one. - SuperSchennBros

Oh, I get what your saying there, but I don't consider that to be screwing the players. That's just a mismanaged team IMO. When you say screw the players it made me think that the team had gone out of their way to screw them over in some way, but I retract my whining comment cause the point is fair that neither of those players was surrounded by a good supporting group of players. - Phillywhiteout
I get it too - I now see the point he was trying to make but didn't read ahead. Yes, totally mismanaged with the idea that we could "possibly" contend. It's a shame that we wasted the prime years of Giroux and Coots.

Why do you have such a bug up your ass about Philly teams other than the Flyers. - MJL Oh geez, it's you trying to school everyone on here. I know that you can only play the teams on your schedule as every clown knows. I was just doing a simple analysis that they haven't beaten a worthy opponent as of yet and the stats (Mr. stat man) back me up on that. And I don't have a bug up my ass about the other Philly teams. Thanks! |

I agree that rebuilding takes sacrifice. I've seen some on here and elsewhere (including some friends of mine) already complaining about the loss tonight. We can't have it both ways and I don't expect much out of this team.
I am not saying Jones, DB and crew are right for the job...just that I'm willing to give them a chance and see how things play out over the new few years. As for kids in the lineup, I hope I'm wrong but don't see many at least early on.

I have a question for you. Have they been scheduled to play a "worthy" opponent yet. Where do I find the worthy team stats at? You say that every clown knows it but you made the same mistake twice. Was Arizona a worthy opponent for the cowgirls?

If they win folks will complain that they are blowing the tank and if they lose people will complain that they totally suck and are hard to watch. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it and not really looking forward to the season, but what ya gonna do? I'll still watch most of the games and try to look for something positive. |

Was Arizona a worthy opponent for the cowgirls? - MJL It's called looking at the other team's won/loss record. The Eagles victories were against teams that were 1-5 heading into tonight's game and the team that they beat tonight had beaten two teams with a combined record of 0-6. It's really simple common sense. I guess Zona was a worthy opponent for the Girls with the Girls not having 3 regular offensive lineman available in the game. That, and the Cowgirls probably were reading their press clippings and thought they were just going to show up and get the "W". They are overrated every year, so nothing new there. |

Believe you me, I’m not thrilled to be in the position I am with being a fan of decades now.
I cut them zero slack, and you’d be foolish to think Comcast doesn’t have a pulse on its fanbase. Or at the very least, members of their staff having that pulse.
They deserve nothing but ferocity, because they’ve destroyed something many of us held quite dear.
I’m just personally done with the “Flyer family” running the show. It’s gone on for too long, and it’s a disease at this point. |

Went to my first game in 1976 and we were season ticket holders from 1985 thru 2005. Haven't been to a game since the 2012 playoff series against the Pens. I've had free tickets offered to me and I refuse to go cause I'm not paying for food/booze and parking. I feel your pain. It's a disgrace what they have done to this once proud franchise. Unfortunately I guess there are people that are still paying their hard earned money to go watch this slop. I mean, apparently they played to 90% capacity last year. WTF! |

Andrew Cassels - The_Journeyman
Interesting. Cassels missed the playoffs 9 years in a row. He put up assists when paired with a productive winger(Geoff Sanderson). He got injured a lot and was traded for what turned out to be the other Bure.
Matching Cassels’ production wouldn’t be bad at all.

It's the NFL where every team is a worthy opponent. Any team can beat you. The Eagles can only beat who they play. They didn't make the schedule. They're 3-0.
