Pretty sure jost is an extra vs the rangers. I'm curious about olo for the opener. Can someone take his spot out of camp?

Not even sure they keep a 13th F, let alone a 14th.

He added such quality that they slashed his minutes and then sat his ass towards the end of the season.

He's nothing worth worrying about as a player.

It's fine if you dont like GAR, or Jost, or the Sabres. My point was more that the idea of making it a "real competition" because Biro looks good in 3 preseason games vs Jost being a net positive as an NHLer for 60 doesnt really make much sense.

If you asked most of the smart hockey people they'd probably all still take Jost over him based on that premise.

Well, I think Mitts has been better at LW and the fact that they keep moving him away from C speaks volumes. 3 1st round C's coming in the next year or so, so who knows who they really project there.

Jost is C insurance, and quite possibly opening night 3C.

I honestly don’t think they would have brought Jost back if Quinn didn’t get hurt

Looking at 3 goalies, 7 defenseman and 12 forwards ?

That's bold, really bold.

Sabres gonna sabre, Ry-jo probably Rochester bound whether he should earn a spot or not. IMO

Could say the same thing about VO, who knows. I think they needed a depth C one way or another.

Olofsson is still here cause the contract is not movable

If that's true, a buyout was a completely reasonable move.

Plenty of teams will start with less than 23. It's really not all that bold.

What would the cap hit have looked like next year if they did that ?

IMO, it's 12F atm. Who doesn't want to see Mitts, Jost, and VO back together again?

I doubt that lasts longer than October if that at all.

About 1.5m. Saves some cash. Could bury him, if you want to spend the $ and save the cap.

Right but I expect someone not on the Sabres to take that spot at Fwd.

The debate would Biro over Rousek as the 13th forward, as I think there is virtually zero chance Benson isn't sent back to Juniors, along with the rest sent back to their logical destinations.

But bringing up GAR/60 as Jost greater than Tage for a laugh, makes the stat a joke.

Do you think they are risking losing one of the following to a waivers claim?

UPL, Comrie, Stillman, Bryson

I do not. They'll live with somebody maybe claiming Biro as their biggest loss risk by cutting to a 23 man roster of 12 forwards, 8 D and 3 G.

The current management is conservative and ultra slow in decision making.

Biro vs Rousek is fair, the original question was about Jost.

My intention was not to make it seem like Jost was better than Tage. It just shows he was a legit NHLer last year, which was my point.

Tage’s deficiencies defensively is not a secret anymore, at least to those paying attention.

I think that was part of the Tage at RW experiment at the end of last season to try to negate his cheating for offence.

Now when you are putting up 90 points, you take the good with the bad.

But when 80% of your top 6 can’t defend if their lives depended on it, that plays a huge role of missing the playoffs despite scoring at will

I meant in a scenario where someone gets hurt, and a roster spot opens. But I don't think anyone is concerned that Bryson would get claimed.

If he was a legit NHLer, why did they slash his minutes and sit him late in the season?

I think he's the safe version of a forward they don't have to play if they don't want to, aka Hinostroza from last season.

How long did it take them to finally decide to waive Fitzgerald last season...?

Presumably because the Top 3C's were getting way more TOI/double shifted during the push in April.

Wasn't he also hurt at one point in March, can't remember tbh.

Tage didn't play Center because he was hurt and had trouble taking draws.

The end.

Idk, it's also not relevant. I'm talking about in a scenario where an injury frees up a roster spot.

I agree they wont waive him till they absolutely have to, but eventually if they have to choose between signing Kane and waiving bryson that's probably an easy call for them lol.
