For all of our sanity’s I truly hope Levi is an exceptionally good rookie goalie because this team does not and probably will not play good team D under Granato and UPL/Comrie are not a viable tandem.

Quick question: How do you know this? You watched tonight’s ahl team lose and your mad??

The full roster hasn’t played together. Erik Johnson and Clifton haven’t even made their preseason debut.

I didn’t watch and I’m not mad.

And I don’t know much.

My opinion is Levi is going to have to carry this goalie room and that’s a hard ask

I’m just making an observation.

I hope they put pen to paper on an 8 year extension today with Power if they could, what he will bring offensively will be more than worth it.

Im the furthest thing from a Joker fan, but as the whipping boy he definitely caught some strays from Power being rough defensively last year.

Nothing more, nothing less

- Swedish_Jesus

Numbers are interesting. Hard not to take away Joker and Power are a bad match.

Joker w/ Power xGF% 46%
Joker w/o Power 54%
Power w/o Joker 51%

Power w/ Samuelsson 60%
Samulesson w/o Power 47%
Power w/o Samuelsson 47%

Dahlin w/ Power 53%
Dahlin w/o Power 53%
Power w/o Dahlin 48%

Did you watch a single game last year?

Erik Johnson is old and sucks.

Clifton seems like a solid add.

How are the Sabres not wearing an RJ patch on their jersey or helmets?

Seems pretty simple

- Sabretooth9

Perhaps they will when the regular season starts. Seems fitting that they would do so.

Erik Johnson is going to make everyone play better because his age and experience and individual skill will inspire the other d men. Erik is the defensive grandpa. The d group all love their grandpapa’s very much so this helps with vibes.

It’s identical to Girgs and Okposo, they have outstanding individual defensive stats on one of the worst defensive teams. They were brought back because the other players haven’t learned enough from their Dad and Uncle yet.

As you saw last season, all the other forwards learned how to play defense from the leadership group, Johnson was added to make the d group play better, that’s the system, do you understand yet?

Super simple.

Well you should be able to see a resemblance of a system with whoever is playing. Yes they haven't all played together, but no matter who is in Camp they should be learning and using whatever D system Donnie is using. And it sure still looks like the same jumbled mess, what are they just gonna turn it on when the season starts.

Connor Timmins looked good for Toronto, looks like he has finally totally healed from the knee and ankle injuries from a couple years back. His skating looked back to almost when he was highly touted. That's a decent get for Toronto for the bag of pucks they gave up for him, especially if he's healthy.

I've stopped putting all my eggs in the defense metrics basket, especially when guys change systems, teams and coaches. He's old, no doubt. But I don't think they're buying a player that is totally shot without knowing how to use him.

Idk what you're complaining about. UPL had an .892 last night - he's in mid-season form

Good Post, Johnson wasn't that bad. His biggest problem is staying healthy.

Just play UPL for the 15 goat head jersey games when the team scores 6 per, and play Levi for the other 67.

If you or anyone wants to listen to Sam Ventura speak in depth about anayltics and perceptions about it, I highly encourage this listen.

He starts around 38 minutes.

I keep thinking back to that Ventura interview. There's a point where he says, generally, you have all this public information, but once you're on this side of the table, you realize you were wrong. It's a fascinating listen.

Well there's changing teams and then there's being under a coach that actively cuts the achilles of all of his players.

Yeah, I can agree to. Never really got into that part of the game. Was more eye evaluation. Actually over the last 3 yrs or so 39, Lunaion, lon and you kinda got me looking more into that stuff. Still Don't understand a lot of it, but it does change the way you See things.
