4x11 is scary territory. Close to the limit, in minimum number of years and max $...maybe over.

He'd be in public trade rumours if this is where they were at so probably not true lol

Well we shall see. But with the Cap supposedly having a chance to explode. 12mill could be nothing for very Good Dman in 3 or 4yrs. He signs long term he could be giving up a lot of Money those last 3 or 4yrs of that Deal. Adams looks to need to find the sweet spot. If he wants 11m, well ok we can do that but you have to give us 5 years.

I'm sensing a 8 year, 10.5M dollar deal coming soon. A proverbial Good Day is on the horizon.

Maybe doing anything on top of drafting and preaching to help the team win wouldve been favorable. Management might just want to keep running it back but I doubt the players share the same sentiment. I wouldn't blame him if he just arbitrates his way to free agency.
- TheHank

Well, think that forces a trade next summer.

Certainly possible he's frustrated with their inactivity, no clue. Possible they sold him on their offseason plans and everything well through....or this ends with 8x11 and this is all invented.

Good to hear, enjoy the game 🙂

If you were an agent, wouldn't you advise the 5 year contract? Like Matthews?

Seams like 5 and then another big big pay day, like Matthews.

Peters saying he is hearing Dahlin is asking for 4 years $11mm per
- washedup20

I don't believe anyone has a clue, all pure speculations.
So far, they have heard:
•8 x $10.5 done
•5 x ??
•4 x $12

Asking for higher $'s on shorter Term is a very unique negotiating tactic, goes against years of practice.

Get back to me if he signs.

I'm not so sure, but either way, he shouldn't be paired with a guy like EJ. Neither can make a stretch pass very well or are good puck movers in general. Everyone will hate this, but I wonder if Bryson would even be a better option there.

Think it has the year to play out before it gets there. Hell of a trade deadline pickup, if things really went off the rails.

Even if there's some accuracy to this, it could just be negotiating.

That's a request an agent makes when he knows the team has virtually zero leverage.
- kingcong39

Except for the fact that he's an RFA and the team has that leverage. He's a great player, will get great money and is able to ask for a lot but in the NHL the team always has leverage unless he's going to be a UFA.

I think we're underestimating how washed EJ is.

Edit: I'm not saying Bryson is good, I'm saying EJ is bad.

I think it's far enough along that whatever the sticking point is, it's not enough to cause a breakdown in negotiations.

Educated guess, it's probably the structure of the bonus pay outs. I bet he wants something like what Fox and Werenski got. Heavy bonus pay out in the final 2 to 3 years of the deal.

We'll probably see a compromise where the AAV comes in slightly higher than the originally assumed 10 mil and the bonus payouts arent quite as heavy as what those other d-men got.

Probably even shorter, honestly. Like I said, 4x11 is about as uncomfortable as you could make it for the team.

It's most likely click bait, the Sabres have 0 leverage. The season goes well, which would be in large part to Dahlin, you have to pay him.

The season goes south, in typical fashion for teams with girgs on the roster, then you have to overpay Dahlin to stick around and not become another superstar to leave and win the Stanley cup the 1st year with his new team.

That leverage is removed when the GM states that he only wants players who want to be there.
