Individually, I like the guys on the Leafs Defence. But let’s be real here. Reilly and Brodie are at best a #2D and #3D. The rest at #5D and #6D. None are tough! None hit. None fight. Absolutely nobody is afraid of any of our D. That matters, and come playoffs, the results will be the same. I don’t get why Leaf’s leadership group can’t see this!? Do they expect Reeves to kick butt in the offensive zone and protect the skilled players in the offensive zone, and then haul his ass back to the D zone to take care of business there as well?? This team can’t go into the playoffs as currently built, and expect and different results.

The Leafs D needs toughness. (frank)ing must have toughness this year. Ridiculous the shenanigans Sammy had to deal with in the playoffs.

The team could easily trade Brodie/Lily for Zadorov/Peeke with + as needed. Then use Benoit since he's top in hits and nastiness (but on a young Ducks team which hopefully skewed his other stats)

Cap in and out is close. D is much meaner. Sammy would be happy. With the additions to forward, that would be a much tougher and even more skilled group too over last year. Bertuzzi > Bunting, Domi > Kerfoot, Reaves > Sam Bennett.

The federal government are giant douches too, but the turd sandwiches in the opposition parties couldn't find their own bumholes with a guided tour. All they have to do is offer some policy that resonates with people. That's too much to ask.

I worry about defensive depth and flexibility. Klinberg is a question mark and Gio is going to need games off and nobody is waiver exempt. Maybe convenient LTIR moves will help but things could get ugly with so little cap room.
