Wow, looks like Hinostroza opened up Pens camp on the first line with Crosby and Rust with Guentzel injured. Hey, good for him. I always liked the gummy, but the Pens may struggle even with the big 4.

Along the same lines, if you look at Boston’s available forwards…. Oof.

I've always said that Poles hiring Flus was a bunch of BS, they put that our there, but no way Poles interviewed him and same day hired him.

Blackhawks rebuild already better as i believe they hired a much better coach. Flus sounds like a HS coach.

- vabeachbear

Me to, Poles has worked a long time in KC, and you're telling me he doesn't believe in the defense the Chiefs ran through his tenor there?

Considering JC started out 2 and 12 KD was fortunate he got to hire a guy he wanted to and i truly believe they just stayed out of his way.

That’s a good skating top pair. Wish Korchinski had someone better to bail out his pinches, but this is what we have. Zaitsev got absolutely roasted by the Athletic today, one of the worst five defenders in the entire league. Rev up that tank baby.

Instinctively 3 rookie d-men seems like too much, but I’d like to see these guys get a chance. They won’t play every game, but I think they could be 3 of the Hawks best 7 d-men. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Vlasic can do after spending a season in Rockford.

The interesting thing to me is seeing Korchinski paired with Murphy. Murphy and whomever he is paired with always get a disproportionate number of Dzone starts compared to the rest of the blueline.

Seems like they are hoping to put him into that defend in your own zone situation to see how he does. Could be they are leaning toward sending him back to Jr and we'll see Tinordi just slide up to pair with Murphy. Just speculation because Tinordi played almost exclusively with Murphy last year. Only first day of camp and a lot can change, but pretty sure they will expect Murphy's pairing to do the heavy lifting as usual.

Been a long wait. Put the needle on the record and git jiggy wit it. ..... I'd guess if Kaiser played 70 games paired with Jones he would have by far his best season as a Hawk. A high IQ player is perfect for the rangy athletic Jones to pair with.

Kaiser just might unlock Jones to play good hockey and be more dangerous.

Good question. I do not remember but pretty sure he was with Werenski in CLB. Werenski has some solid IQ and was good for Jones IMO.

Unless Kurashev finally makes good on his potential, I think Guttman has a really strong chance at replacing #23.
- Chunk

When Philip beat Kyle from Chicago by an arbiter's ruling Kyle choose the two-year contract, so I don't see anytime this season Guttman specifically fills the kurechev roster spot.

I agree, I was killing time.

We can all decide which young backliner personal we have the option to stay and after two older guys are wanted to promotion, there seems no way the coaching staff can replicate the past duo of Blackhawk Cup 3-peaters and there introduction, where they were put in more protected match-ups and the old guard on the Hawk's dee PRIOR might not have been stars but ample/ solid NHLERS.
It is more tha current New players & last year's Old leftovers that will simply be unable to soften the speed or contact for any of the following NHL candidates;

Roos-Crevier-Vlasic-Phillips-Kaiser-Allen-Del Matro-Korchinski

I think the Blackhawks are afforded the luxury of promotions for as many of them as possible even taking taking roster spots away. (oh Nikita Zaitsev you know you doing on, right?)

You can understand sorting out who can play (and what coach can bring out of you),where the NINE fit in the scheme, since the team's veteran rearguards rightfully occupy, so, the order of who stays/goes on the blue line will be determined at the end of training camp, and I expect the guys to play to their strengths on a Bedard lead scoring team where all play will count, and that couple of two hour bus ride to Rockford will be an understood part of the development.

If less than 8 of THE NINE don't see of the big league, it would have to because they went to work elsewhere.

They don't get NHL hot & ready by lingering w/o NHL situational chances.
These kids may not all look ready, but if there was any [/I]year when I would let them all into the coaches' room in the stays here.

The era I started watching the game in was one where expansion is what helped lower the age of the incoming (the fact that that 18 yr. old Bobby Orr was able to take the sport willingness to trust these younger standout defenders in the past decade.

But now is now.
You get better after you play in bigs and this Blackhawks team needs to take on that,"Just, let's play!" attitude, because they're hungry fans are so love sick with Bedard, the rookie defense of THE NINE will be given more fan leeway than any defense in the league, so whether a merry-go-round, or a combo pair switch outs, let us see them all ,starting with lots of Korchinski.

You don’t think if Kurashev basically stays the same player he is, and Guttman continues playing at the level he was that LR wouldn’t at least switch their spots in the lineup?

I think Guttman was a more effective player than a Kurashev last year.

I believe there is still a dearth of talent, especially at forward. Anyone who makes serious strides will find plenty of opportunity.

Of The Nine, I could see as many as 5 kept around playing exhibitions and team scrimmages until the last possible cut.
It is encouragement and confidence building.

What is there to lose except losing if these your rearguards are part of a losing efforts next season?

We saw how excruciating the now 24 yr. old (25 in January) Ian Mitchell's pro play seemed to never come together, but that judgement wasn't one that was made quickly, but was a "go on to the next youngster's chance at development."

And a lot of team's are pairing the youngster in tandem (Las Vegas 3rd pair) so they are an already established pair, not just a jump on the ice where they are guessing at what their partner is thinking.

I do think Kaiser is already established, and the only reason for holding Vlasic longer on the Rockford farm is growth and maybe finding a youngster that they feel he clicks with.

There will be no disadvantage to holding anyone back for parts of the season, because they will enventaly be an injuring call-up where that kid is giving an opportunity to not go back down.

There is no reason to eventually, say "free Louis Crevier" from the AHL;he either shows the attributes to play at a high level or doesn't and as all, becomes expendable if he doesn't fill the NHL bill.

I think can play the silly game on lining them up, because the idea I can match good left & right sides is almost as underwhelming as playing my imaginary lines.

Kaiser - Louis Crevier
Vlasic - Nikita Zaitsev
Kevin Korchinski - Conner Murphy
Filip Roos - Seth Jones
Jared Tinordi - Isaak Phillips
and I see Ethan Del Mastro - Nolan Allen guys that will work in Rockford, unless that push for spots and knock some of the others out of the bigs.

Training camp should build cohesion but even the fact there will be youngsters they need to pay in the bigs and understand what that means.

Instead of us arguing it here, those players will decide it, hopefully with the best long term chances for team building by the staff.

Playing Zaitsev, flipping him at the deadline, then bring up a young guy who got top 2 or 4 mins in Rockford, for the rest of the season, is not a bad plan, and I could argue is what they should do.

I just do not see anybody wanting him, even at half price; he is here until the season ends.

You can always just send Zaitsev to the A, that is what Ottawa did.
