So Demmer apparently had the flu and took the 3rd off when the garment was in the bag.
Glad it’s nothing more severe.
And props for playing through it!

I think Garland was in the same boat as Demko.

Hey great, they won, the first game of the season and played well. I'll acknowledge that for this game at least they were by far the better team. I just don't trust this team to keep it up over 82 games. Credit where credit is due, there were some players on this team (Boeser especially) that played exceptionally well (and got extremely lucky for 2 of his 4 goals).

Again, it's the first game of the season and they were pumped and ready to play, Edmonton didn't look all that motivated and maybe took the Canucks a bit too lightly. I always said they probably split the first two games with them, I just thought they'd lose this game and win Saturday.

Not hockey related but I had heard yesterday that Seinfeld and Larry David were also not happy with how the show ended 25 years ago and are looking at doing a reunion show and redoing how the show ended.

Ya, I've been saying the biggest impact on this season is gonna be Tocchet/the coaching staff and how the players buy in. One game is a small sample size, but the trend through preseason and this game is encouraging. Also holding the Edmonton PP to 1 goal is fantastic. Hopefully they can keep it up

Solid win, I’ll wave the pom poms but this is the 1st game, Edmonton played terrible and it was almost as if the Canucks weren’t trying to score but couldn’t help not score because the Oilers played that bad. Looking forward to the next game and how they respond to the humiliating push back from Edmonton

I think, especially after the last few season starts, crushing an 8-1 W is worthy of a moment of enjoyment unto itself. But ya, going into Edmonton after this victory is gonna be a good test: win or lose, just how they play and respond will be telling.

I'm happy they held the Oilers to less than 30 shots. The play in their own end was the big change that I noticed.

Agreed, watching the game I was impressed with their positioning and structure, but the projected Stanley Cup favourites will be looking for redemption.

So your saying they laid an 8-1 beating on a cup favorite with the flu running through the team ?
Even more impressive!!!

I'm sitting in my room in LA. Just got back from the Kings/Avalanche home opener. After going on this road trip and seeing Climate Pledge and Crypto.com arenas, he's got nothing to boast about. He's a slumlord plain and simple.

Solid effort last night. Hope they can keep it going and beat the oil on Saturday.

First time I’ve listened to Sportsnet650. Not great.

Thatcher Demko was dehydrated, battling the flu says Rick Tocchet.

Tocchet said he tried to battle through it, but he pulled him once Demko threw up in his mask. #Canucks
