I think we’re better right now and we’ll tweak the defense at the deadline.

Objectively they've gotten better offensively and worse defensively so we'll see how the overall dynamic plays out. The subtraction of Holl makes them better than last year automatically though.

It's something the same that people are hoping will be different for some reason.

Agree with Holl out > Holl in.

Also the removed Bunting factor and his antics where you have to think officials grew to hate him and simply refused to call penalties against him (or physically rough him up!) no longer being a thing may also be viewed as an improvement to the team.

No Spazzy Mar-raz-eeee and a full season of Joey Woll in the NHL combined with a goalie in Sammy who is in season 2 with the Leafs and not one of 2 brand new goalies in Toronto are also positive things in my books.

If the moves pay off, I think this Leafs roster is better than last year's. A lot more physicality and some of it has a measure of offensive upside. I'm not a big fan of the Klingberg addition, but losing Holl is addition by subtraction. I would have kept Schenn or went after Gudas instead of Klingon. The only disappointment in my book is keeping Keefe, but unless there was a better option, I guess keeping him on a short leash is not the worst thing.

Just to be a contrarian here, Keefe does have the highest winning percentage of any active coach and is 1-1 in playoff series against two-time Cup winning coach Jon Cooper.

Heard they tried to sign Gudas but he didnt want to come to this market. We did need more offense from the back end though. Now we need size and sandpaper. Or snot.

Ducks' Radko Gudas rejected offers from Maple Leafs, Oilers because of media scrutiny

One of the more sought-after free agent defencemen this offseason rejected multiple contract offers from Canadian teams to stay out of the NHL limelight.

Before signing with the Anaheim Ducks as an unrestricted free agent earlier this summer, defenceman Radko Gudas reportedly received multiple offers from various Canadian teams. In a recent interview with Czech outlet DenikSport, Gudas revealed that the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Toronto Maple Leafs all reached out to the blueliner to try and ink a deal. The 33-year-old, however, was not interested in playing hockey north of the border.

The reason? Gudas wasn't interested in the notorious scrutiny and pressure from Canadian hockey media, especially after his recent experience."

3 predictions:

Sens will win playoff spot.

Sens will average 19,000+ and be top 5 in attendance on the season.

Good (frank) him - we can all continue to hate him now and hope he is stupid enough to allow Reevo to smash his face in like a 12 week old rotten Pumpkin.

We all know he won't though, the guy is dirty AF but doesn't fight heavyweights or even guys his own size for the most part.

My main complaint about Keefe was his apparent inability (or stubbornness) to make changes to his gameplan. He seemed reluctant to shift strategies and seemed to be outcoached in the playoff series where it matters most. If he would mix things up when they aren't right, I'd be OK with him. To keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results, well.... sometimes it works out (like the last Tampa series) and mostly it doesn't (like the other series). Arguably, Tampa was the better team for long stretches of that series, but finally fell victim to a determined Leafs squad who wanted it more and finally got a few bounces.

I don't like him either, but you like him when he's on your team. He's a headhunting bag of Richards, but he's good at it.

I don't subscribe to the "you would love him if he was on your team" theory at all.

I don't want the dirty POS players on the team I cheer for, no Marchand, no Perry and no Gudas.

I get some people are fine with it, I'm just not.

I am not sure what you expect when you walk over 2 sections to confront someone. Obviously not this, and it seems to be a terrible tragedy, but man you are right. People need to learn to shut the F up or these could be the consequences.

I never saw him do anything filthy while he played for Lightning. I've seen Cernak do worse, more than once. Gudas throws a mean old-school hip check. I don't think he's in the same league as Marchand or Perry. I hated it that Perry played for the Lightning. I grew to tolerate Maroon, but Whorey Fairy never grew on me.
