I thought it wasn't abuse?

For real though, the NHL has taught me to never trust anything they do or say at face value. They have made a few good steps in recent years, but still not nearly enough to convince me that the organization as a whole is any less rotten at the core.

I've got a short stories about hockey and mental health my wife had shared with me. In another post. Unfortunately, you don't know how everyone is going to take everything that is said. Some are definitely more fragile than others.

It is much harder now a days to hide things. Someone is always willing to talk. Players are more informed.

3rd liner Beau must go but more expensive 3rd liners, like like Mikheyev Garland and Boeser should be gifted positions.

Beauvillier is the only reason I might watch a few Canucks games this year. Seems to be the only player who applies puck pressure on this team of candy-asses.

I am sure if they do trade Beauvillier, they can find a Swedican to replace him.

Go Canucks Go.

If this is in fact true I would give up watching hockey then.

Speaking on the topics of mental health in hockey. My wife has two kids that are supposedly very good at hockey on her case load. Teenage girl and a boy. (my wife is allowed to talk without names and such about people as long as she doesn't say too much) if you are wondering.

The boy according to his parents is quite good but has a stutter. His coach asked him one game to be more vocal on the ice. That night he was admitted for thoughts of suicide. I was reading an article after the draft about Leo Carlsson who also has a stutter and had spoken to my wife about it. She mentioned Carlsson and his story to the boy and I guess that boy has a new favourite player.

As for the girl, she is young but she used to train sometimes with the Women's Canadian national hockey team. Which age group wasn't mentioned. The girl was told by coaches that she needed to improve on aspects of her game if she was going to make the team in the future. She has such horrible anxiety that she can not go into a hockey rink anymore without having a huge breakdown.

I was looking at roster and players this morning while I was doing my what constitutes are 1st or 2nd line player, even though Ruby answered it was you who constitutes that.

Last season started like poop but the team had Pettersson, Miller, Horvat down the center and Aman as the 4LC. Now it looks like the Canucks will go with Pettersson, Miller, Suter, Blueger most likely as the centers.

Suter is a decent downgrade on Horvat but upgrade over Dries, Blueger upgrade over Aman. Really didn't gain much if anything there.

The wingers are pretty well the same. Pearson over Studnicka isn't making a heck of a difference.

It comes down to Cole, Hronek and Soucy being legit better than OEL, Schenn, Burroughs.

Feels as if coaching staff is going to have to make a hell of a difference.

Studnicka had four goals last year, I will make a bold statement and say if Pearson is healthy he will score 17. His PK is also better.

I don't think Canucks are done at center yet. I think in the next few weeks they will make a move for a young center and another Dman.

The team didn't have a problem scoring they had a problem keeping the puck out of their net. Too many reasons to list.

I still think this is a bubble team but they have 9 UFAs this year and that will free a lot of cap and roster changes for next year. So yeah still a year away.

There was a lot that was wrong last year and I don't think they fixed everything but made some positive strides. If they didn't then we will be discussing the same thing next year but I think the hockey will in fact be more enjoyable this year. If not there is this thing on my TV called a channel changer that will get full use.

That is a kid I am going to follow this year. So far from highlights he looks like a really decent pick.

My fav soccer team made a large transition of players this season. Sold probably their best midfielder to fund other signings, didn't look promising in pre season with a bunch of losses but then came out of the gate quickly. 3 wins in 3 games. What has helped most is how well many new faces have gelled together.

Ruby and I have talked about being about to get the players to play together over the years. I'm not overly excited with what they have done enough to be a real contender for a playoff spot this season. Gladly wrong though

I am going to watch a lot of BU this year. Wallinder, Celebrini. Easy to watch two at once, same with Lekkerimaki and D-Petey.

Maybe their delivery was wrong, but if they can't take constructive criticism about aspects of their game, then they will never get better, nor make it. Coaches need to always do their best to bring it up in a positive light, but it isn't always possible, or sometimes not seen as such by the one receiving the criticism.

As for the boy, the coach should have that conversation privately, and maybe with parents first. Sorry to hear that it drove to consider suicide at such a young age.

I am end up watching some teams with players that I actually like, but hard to turn off the tap on a team that I have followed since the 1970-71 season.
