I just had an old friend over that I haven't seen in a decade because his ex wife wouldn't let us see each other. Now that his "dictator" (what he called her) is gone. He came for supper and a beer to catch up. He showed me a pic of his new GF on his phone and was like don't swipe either way.

Whoops, didn't realize a new blog up. Not used to this torrid pace!

On Canucks vs. Coyotes ...

I mean, even comparing Canucks and Coyotes shows how abysmal Vancouver has been of late. These are two of the worst run NHL franchises in recent memory. Holding your hat on having a few guys pan out with almost zero supporting cast and next to nothing in the pipeline is not very bright imho. Not to mention, the best of the bunch EP with one foot out the door.

Sure Arizona has been worse, but not many other teams have been ... and honestly aside from a bubble run where we shouldn't have even made the playoff in a regular year, how much better than Arizona have we been? Not trying to be uber negative, but let's get real.

I have been thinking about a winger for Petey's line to make a huge impact and actually turn a bubble team into a threat. I think the next few weeks are going to be busy so I was wondering what moves can be made to make the team a PO team.

They need a center and one more Dman IMO

Options of centers on the list Pinto Scheifele. Costly but worth a look. Ottawa need cap space more than anything so I think we could offer a better package than Boston.

JTM Petey Kuz
Mikheyev Pinto Boeser
Pearson Suter Hoglander
Dakota Blueger Garland

Hughes ???
Soucy Hronek
Cole Juulsen

Need to trade Beau and Myers.

I like your train of of thought. That 1st line would be sic. 2nd a good blend. I’d like Pod to be groomed at C. His skill set & D responsibility style seems a natural fit.

What an ass. Don't know how Ek doesn't upgrade his servers, I mean this is some high quality journalism on this site, not to mention the insane rumor charts the members pay for.

Forgot he was still getting paid.
Still don't think it was a big deal looking at family photos with players. Like I said, I'm not a fan of his and never have been but the cancel culture has a very itchy trigger finger.

They had a good point on the Steve Dangle Podcast regarding Babs. Hockey is such an old boys club, even poopheads tend to hang around way past their expiry date. What's notable about Babcock is that no matter what happens, there always seem to be players and other people within the game ready to go after him for being a POS, that kinda says something.

He wasn't an angel for sure but if you listen to some of the stories, some are just overblown and others are laughable. Who was that one D that complained he was benched and then traded and it was all Bab's fault. He was like a 35 year old D who had struggled for a couple years already and thought he should be just handed a spot every night.

Plenty more players who loved playing for him though, a lot of his detractors tended to be players who were borderline NHLers or players that when they were playing for him were struggling or else on the tail end of their careers and he was notorious for having his favorites. Clearly he's a Richard and deserves all the negative press he's gotten over the years but it's not on a level of a Quenville or Stan Bowman who should be banned for life from all levels of hockey, not just the NHL.

I think it gets more attention because all hockey players are saints themselves, no Richards or bullies or predators amongst that group and their personal histories

Are there? I feel like you never hear positive stories about him. I never see players going to bat for him like some of the other controversial coaches. Torts for example has always had players that openly loved playing for him despite his warts.

Mike Commodore has been leading the anti-Babcock campaign for years. He's a bit mentally unstable, but he hates Babcock with a passion.

Do you have to be well liked to be an NHL coach? It might help but as long as he isn't breaking laws. Is it much different than Tocchet saying players need to be accountable and they need to come in shape and ready to go. Or TG saying JV was not in shape.

Obviously coddling players is the way to go for coaches now. Tough love is a thing of the past.

Colaiacovo said that the leadership in Detroit tried to get Babcock fired every year.

Yeah the way I read the lineup right now is we have a legit 1st line, then a couple 3rd lines and a 4th ... with Boeser kind of fitting in nowhere.

Why do we need to trade Beau? I read that a lot but don't understand. He seemed to play well, tries his arse off anyway.
