Nate Schmidt probably told him some great stories about the VAN clique!

The top teams in the playoffs are teams that make big moves like acquiring a 31 year old Pietrangelo. Vegas had three players under the age of twenty five.

I can't help that the fan base is still snake bitten by Benning's ghost but if you are serious about winning then the quality of trades has to be better than Studnickas and Stillman.

Again I think a forty goal Scheifele is better than a 22 nd OA pick.

Gotta love buying high on a 30 year old player coming off an unsustainable year where have I heard that one before?

Vegas makes big swings, but you're allowed to do that when you're already one of the best teams in the league, not when you've missed the playoffs for like 8 years in a row

Moving Boeser is moving money. Locking in Scheifele for the next five to six years is probably better than any draft pick you would make at the 22 nd selection.

Scheifele is good enough that Boston wants him but he is not good enough for Canucks.

OKAY.

Keep trading for those Studnickas and it will be another 8 years and we will still be having these conversations about how we can't trade a Likkermaki and the 14 th overall because Benning cursed us. It is pretty simple. You want better players you need to get them any way you can. Those first round picks are valuable just ask the Coyotes.

Fair enough. Scheiffle is a fine player and I understand your reasoning. This team is to impatient to develop players.

Too many wingers, lots to choose from.

Freidman on Tanner Person : It was a tough year for Pearson, problems with the surgeries, I wonder if the Canucks think if he is better off elsewhere, I think they are kind of looking into that.

- VanHockeyGuy

I do wonder what the Canucks are going to do with him. Is the relationship strained and he wants to be moved or our Canucks saying you’re healthy now, we want you on our team. Can he even still play? Is the question still to be answered.

It’s usually pretty poor defence to go with those goals.

Well take a look at Boeser who we drafted in the twenties. Everyone wants to get rid of him. OJ at number five. Jake at six. Podz at 10.

I get that we want draft picks but it does not mean it will turn out well.

I even look at other teams like Buffalo who have traded top first round picks.

I liked this years draft for Canucks but like PA said there is other ways to build teams. Canucks have two very good first round picks in Petey if he stays and Hughes. Surround them with a good team now and forget about this six years down the line hoping a first round pick turns out to be special. IMO you need a couple of very good picks and a mix of good trades and signings.

Even before the injuries, Pearson wasn't worth anything on trade.

We'll have to play out the string with him. I don't mind him, fine enough player but a dime a dozen and not worth anything.

I think with Scheif they are a hell of a lot better. They also need one more Dman.

I don't think they will be near as bad as last years start, but this team right now is on the outside looking in.

I would disclaim outside looking in if they don't get more than a couple injuries and Demko plays top like a 5 goaltender, which he is capable of. If Demko gets hurt, they're instantly done again.
