They named one of the assistants as head coach. Gave him a 2 year deal. |

Didn't see much of the game but the Hawk prospects lost 7-4 to Minnie. If Bedard played it would have been 7-7. Hope nobody got hurt.

Bedard was a non-factor today, the kid’s already proven to be a bust. |

I was thinking the same thing. He needs to get better at playing defense as well - BetweenTheDots
Korchinski is going to be a conundrum for the Hawks. If he goes back to Seattle he will continue to play offensively and dominate. But he needs to improve defensively. He does not look like he is ready for the NHL. It might be best that he plays in Seattle this year and then plays at least half the season at Rockford the following year. I think there is a risk of him turning into Gus 2.0. (A better version, but still not reliable defensively.) |

I think Bedard's effect at this level of competition in addition to the obvious of what he can do with the puck is the opposing players have to pay attention to where he is on the ice. What I mean is that when he is on the ice, he draws focus of the opposition and it lets the other Hawks prospects have a little bit more breathing room IMO.
I think today the Hawks where a bit sloppy in their end and moving the puck out to try to break out. We saw some examples of 4 Hawks covering 2 wild skaters and leaving the other skaters wide open. We saw some forced passes trying to get out of the defensive zone instead of the safe play of just dumping it out. |

Right move.
Also I would expect that Allen has the same issues to improve upon as he did prior to last season. Reportedly he was much better on handling and particularly with passing the puck. As a professional at Rockford he faces a faster pace game so he is going to need confidence and show ability to pass the puck. I very much want him to develop to the level if acceptable in passing; he could then become KK pairing or merely one of our top seven dmen
DelMaestro and Crevier could supplant or just take his spot in the NHL if he takes too long to actually improve his passing
Now if you are looking at prisoects on defense who can play a physical brand (like Allen does) then i surmise Phillips has to pick up his intensity and physical checking if he is to stick in the NHL.
Phillips should get the opportunity to play NHL pit of training camp but how much depends upon a couple of things. How well does Phillips perform when he gets opportunity as well as how well both Vlasic and Kaiser perform; clearly i see Kaiser and Vlasic ahead of Phillios on the deoth chart. And then secondly we can take note how Injuries always impact the roster, Phillips could find maybe 20 TOI or even less TOI if his performance is way too inconsistent whether someone is injured or not.
In the following season we will have a '23/24 season of development from all the young guys so we shall see who advances and who is still not NHL ready |

Kaiser's fast rise means KK can go back to Seattle - vabeachbear
Maybe. I don't think Korchinski hurt his chances with his play this weekend.
Probably going to be Roos Philips Vlasic Kaiser Korchinski with the best chance of getting the last 3 spots (assuming 7 D on the Roster).
After Seth Jones there is a big hole in terms of Dmen who can really play PP minutes.
Last season PP minutes by D.
S.Jones 237 minutes
C.Jones 113 minutes
Mitchell 46 minutes
Roos 15 minutes
Everyone else was under 10 minutes and Kaiser/Vlasic/Philips each played less than a minute of PP time.
Depending how some of the other guys play, KK has a chance to fill that offensive D spot a bit. Even if he only gets 3rd pair minutes at even strength. With training camp and preseason, the chance is there for him to earn those minutes C.Jones/Mitchell were playing on the PowerPlay.
There should be lots of playing time to go around, because the Hawks vets on D aren't the most injury resistant either. Murphy usually misses like 20 games a season. Tinordi seems to get banged up a fair bit with his physical style. Zaitsev hasn't played 80+ games since 5 seasons ago with the Leafs. |

I think it comes down to Vlasic, Kaiser & Del Mastro and I wouldn’t be surprised to se a rotation throughout the season.
But to start, I’d say Vlasic has the best chance then Kaiser. - DarthKane
I agree. Vlasic and Kaiser look to be the most NHL ready. But I expect to see a few Dmen shuttled up and down from Rockford. Let them get instruction and minutes in Rockford and then call them up for 5 to 10 games to see if they can apply what they learned in the AHL at the NHL level.
Starting at Rockford:
Roos
Phillips
Allan
Crevier
Del Mastro
With Commesso and Stauber, several dmen with some upside potential, and less than stellar forwards it might be good to focus on learning/playing a tight D, well structured, disciplined, low scoring game at the Rock.
Like last year, what happens at the Rock is as important as what happens at the NHL level. I like what I have seen and heard from Sorenson. |

Rockford plays the same system that the Hawks do, which is a box plus one, which is about as conservative a system as you can get. I don't foresee any change because the defense will still be slow/and or not good puck carriers, passers, decision makers (Murphy, Zaitsev, Tinordi, Vlasic, Jones).
Too bad this prospect showcase did not include (outside of Bedard of course) the other Hawks top forward prospects (Moore, Nazer, Greene). The showcase IMO is like the last organized scrimmage before cutdown date when trying to make an all-star team. Minnesota also didn't have their top 4 prospects in the game either.

This is Shane Pinto’s scouting report, not sure he fits the Hawks narrative due to skating, however it takes all kinds to build a team, they don’t all have to be speedsters.
A strong center who works hard and does things the right way. Pinto's skating needs some attention but the skills are there to be a strong pivot who can contribute as a net front presence on the power play. |

You have Bedard, with Nazer, Moore and Greene in the pipeline. I wouldn't give up a first rounder for Pinto, i think someone proposed a 2nd and 4th, that is the max I would do. IMO he projects out as a 3rd line center, and is he defensively responsible enough for that ?
Anyway's Dorion will probably move someone else (Brannstrom, Joseph) in order to sign Pinto. |

Jarmo's only claim to fame is he won three trades with Stan Bowman.
