Davidson said "nothing's off the table" when it comes to Kevin Korchinski. He could go back to juniors right out of camp, he could stick around for a couple games and go back, half the season and go back, or just stay in the NHL.
"He’s a big piece. We really believe in him."

Kyle Davidson says he wants to see Kevin Korchinski prove he can physically defend NHL forwards and dial back his offensive risk-taking. If he can do those things, he could stick on the Blackhawks’ roster.
“We’re looking long-term with Kevin. He’s a big piece.”

Davidson said "development" is the main thing he's looking for from the Blackhawks this season.
"We just want to see players improve, take that next step and show us that they can be part of this in a significant way moving forward." |

Korchinski is a better skater than every defender on this team already. I’d also bet $100 he’s better than every defender on the ice with him in the preseason games, just like last preseason. Let him play, there are no lofty expectations this year and he gets direct access to Kevin Dean.
Can’t wait to watch Murphy tarnish the A for another season. That used to be worn by Keith, Sharp, Seabrook… truly great players who led by example. Now we hand it out to whoever is old or has been on this rolling dumpster for many years. What a shame. It’s hard to think of worse players who’ve worn a letter for their team. |

Would see this occasionally last year in Seattle when Korchinski would start forward a little early and get beat around the edge. He could use his length to recover and defend, but in the NHL that probably won't be doable.
Would definitely like to see him get the 9 games early in the season to get familiar with regular season NHL speed. After that there are lots of options. Would also like to see a him be a bigger part of the Canada WJC team this year. |

This is what I was hoping to hear. Let’s see what KK can do in the preseason but in the two rookie games I thought he was pretty average defensively. If he goes back to Seattle everyone, including him, knows what he has to work on. |

And anyone thinking #38 Del Maestro is gone leapfrog him after the prospects tourney is delusional.
There is room top carry and play a high skilled defender with wheels who learns and serves up on the job, until it is untenable for him to keep going forward.

Tanner Pearson and a 2025 3rd to the Habs for Casey DeSmith. No salary retained. I'll take Canucks cap dump for $200, Alex.

Do they plan on starting Mikheyev on LTIR, or do they plan on another move or two, such as Beauvillier or Tyler Myers? They still have $2 mill to dump. |

Thought I heard or read KD saying he wants to start Reichel out at center. .. Interesting if he works at center. AA back to wing and with Bedard, Nazar Moore, Ludwinski/Hayes types that are here or on their way in 2/3 yrs that all can, and or has, played center along with the Guttman/D!ckenson types already here I kinda took for granted Reichel would play wing.
If it pans out it's a wonderful problem to have, too many centerman. |

No doubt how KK is handled this yr is the #1 player personnel decision in the organIzation. ....... I too zoomed in on KD's quote in that post about KK needing to minimize/work on offensive risk.
Watching maybe only 7-8 SEA games it never occurred to me KK was reckless with his offense and IMO showed decent IQ that way. ... Sure, it could improve but for a 19 yr old kid to put up 70 pts a couple times in the WHL he looked mature, and not reckless, doing so.
Now, his play in his own zone, not by any means terrible or even bad, I think it's ok at the jr level, is a question mark for any Dman coming outa jrs. Question is can he develop his defensive game, and risk assessment too, at the NHL level and or should he when it can be worked on in jrs sufficiently.
Hard to argue against giving him the preseason and a start with the big club to see if he's ready for the NHL.
