I know some folks on here think Torts is bad, but that Babcock guy takes the cake. Before the season starts he calls his captain into his office and tells him to show the pics that he has on his phone so that he can get an idea of what kind of person he is? WTF! Babcock might get fired before he even coaches a game. - Phillywhiteout
I think it's kind of strange but Jenner had no issue with it and was glad to show Babcock some family pictures. Babcock showed Jenner his.

Someone is lying and based on Babcock's past I wouldn't be surprised if he is lying. And you know the team captain isn't gonna publicly rip his new coach.

I don’t see a Babcock and Tortorella comparison. Babcock should be compared to Keenan. Two tyrants. Torts should be compared to Hitchcock. Hitchcock was all about puck possession, creating turnovers and taking advantage of mistakes. Hitchcock knew Modano had a broken wrist before Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He phones Modano the night before getting him out of bed and not knowing if he’s playing saying, “ Mike what kind of game are we getting from you tomorrow”? Does Torts do that? Torts gives and takes away ice time based on his criteria. Did Hitchcock do that or did he just harangue players into submission? - Minnyhock I agree that Torts and Hitchcock are a good comparison. Hitch admitted that he likes to create chaos with his team to get a rise out of them and get them fired up, and Torts seems to like to use the same methods. I just mentioned Babcock cause it seems some of his ex players absolutely despise him and his methods. These old school coaches just don't seem to work these days with the younger folks. There are two sides to the current Babcock story, so not sure who to believe, but based on Babcock's past I wonder if he's up to his old tricks. |

Nothing wrong w/ MM getting assigned to HK Sochi again. He'll be the focal point of their offense and he will get minutes and opportunities that he wouldn't have gotten if he had stayed w/ SKA. He'll still be playing against KHL competition... there's really no downside. - Tomahawk
Getting away from that coach is a good thing. Getting meaningful minutes is a must. I feel bad for the kid going back to Sochi from a personal stand point …..but to me that’s the only downside. I watched the game he played in , and wondered who # 88 was…he was RR’s go to guy, he was on ice every 2nd, 3rd shift…it was Brendan Leipsic, who’s played a bit in the NHL. They played the hell out of Alex Galchenyuk, who although skilled didn’t exactly set the NHL on fire. After watching one of the preseason games it was evident to me Michkov was easily one of the most skilled guys on the ice, even though limited in minutes. For what ever reason him and the coach do not seem on the same page. |

The “old school” coach’s definitely have a short shelf life these days…the professional athlete is a different animal these days for sure. I think in this case Babcock was probably just trying to foster a relationship with his new players with out really thinking he was crossing a line. There are definitely scores being settled with old players stirring up poop against a guy that was despised by many who played for him…back in the day coaches weren’t there to be your friend…it seems now they try much harder to relate to the player on personal levels. |

Perhaps he was an ex player of his and has a personal agenda against Babs, but he sure is going after Babs on social media over this phone pic thing.

LOL. Lying about what? Both Jenner and Babcock related the story in the same way. You've badly misread that. Some past players didn't like it but Jenner apparently had no issue. |

The word APPARENTLY holds lots of water here. Like I said, what do you think Jenner is gonna say in this situation? You think he is gonna throw his new coach under the bus? Nah! |

You're reaching. By Jenner's tone and wording, it's clear he didn't have an issue with it. |
