It's been said by CSKA-affiliated people that Fedotov didn't want to come over. All the player himself has said publicly is that he just wants to play hockey at this point, wherever that is. He also didn't deny that CSKA management was behind his arrest and conscription. Instead, he said "it doesn't matter who was behind it."

Realistically, CSKA was the path of least resistance after all Fedotov went through last year and given the fact that he missed a full year of hockey and wasn't able to properly train until the latter half of this summer following his military discharge.

Nothing wrong w/ MM getting assigned to HK Sochi again. He'll be the focal point of their offense and he will get minutes and opportunities that he wouldn't have gotten if he had stayed w/ SKA. He'll still be playing against KHL competition... there's really no downside.

I don’t see a Babcock and Tortorella comparison. Babcock should be compared to Keenan. Two tyrants. Torts should be compared to Hitchcock. Hitchcock was all about puck possession, creating turnovers and taking advantage of mistakes. Hitchcock knew Modano had a broken wrist before Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He phones Modano the night before getting him out of bed and not knowing if he’s playing saying, “ Mike what kind of game are we getting from you tomorrow”? Does Torts do that?
